A Fresh Hello

I created this design a few weeks ago and am just now getting the time to upload it. Love this fun color combo…another variation of my teal/olive combos…this one in darker tones pulled from the My Mind’s Eye patterned paper layer. To keep it fresh…a vanilla card base.

This morning I’m sitting here with a coffee and a peanut butter cookie we made last night. It’s been so long since I baked cookies…everyone was MOST appreciative. Lots of snow here today after yesterday’s snow squalls. At one point I could not even see the driveway…about 10 feet from my living room window! Now if the temperatures would just come up slightly to make it a little more bearable…these kids could get out and play in it! I do love winter but right now…I’d love some spring!

Fresh Hello

jks-fresh-hello-2.jpg

This design uses some very simple stamping of this Kim Hughes’ Silhouette Blooms 1 stamp set from Cornish Heritage Farms. Simply inked and repeat stamped twice more without reinking. This stamp is sooooooo pretty you just don’t need any fancy techniques. The new Silhouette Blooms 2 is just as stunning and I can’t wait for it to arrive in the mail! I actually have my peripheral vision fixed on the mailbox as I write this! 😉

Edited to add…Can you hear me shouting with joy?! My HUGE pile of new rubber JUST arrived! (10:17 am) Wohoo!!! I’m off to start cutting! 🙂 I’m bouncin’!

For my background, I simply stamped it with my French Script Backgrounder in Canvas Palette Hybrid Ink and inked the edges to highlight the texture of the Prism cardstock. One of the things I love about Prism cardstock is the two options…one side has a bumply texture and the other is smooth. To add a little embellishing…a scrap of olive May Arts ribbon held with a jumbo Karen Foster Designs brad.

A few things to note:

Making Memories Textured Tape {C’est Bon}

jks-textured-tape.jpg

I love these packages of coordinating textured tapes by Making Memories. Now you may be wondering…exactly what is this tape. After all…it can be a little difficult to see the texture in a photograph. Making Memories had a fabulous line of these darling printed fabric tapes that are so easy to use. They are adhesive backed and come in packages of four coordinating rolls of fabric tape. These little rolls are perfect for adding texture and patterned to a design quickly. I love how they are easy to use and easy to trim off the excess. You can use them just like strips of patterned paper if you wish…they addition of a woven texture being a little fun and there is no need to get out the paper trimmer and adhesive…it’s all done for you.

What can you do with them? Adhere them as stripes, adhere them right together, wrap them around a jar or altered item. You can also make tabs with them, weave them, stitch them, punch them…just have fun with them! The Making Memories Textured Tapes come in a variety of patterns and are available at your local scrapbooking store, Michael’s and on-line crafting stores.

Girl’s Night Invitation

jks-girls-night-invitation.jpg

This is a quick fun girls night invitation card design. I’ m having so much fun with this It’s a Party stamp set by Lizzie Anne Designs lately, I thought it would pair up well with these fun textured tapes for a quick design. To highlight the fun colors and texture of the tapes, I kept the cardstock a simple plain white and accented with a touch Rose Red and Close to Cocoa paper and ink. Some buttons and stitching embellish the circular sentiment and to make a fun check for the girls night…a tiny Making Memories flower brad adds to that girlie look.

Hope you enjoyed this little product review. I don’t know about you but I could use a little girl’s night right about now. Amidst a winter cold snap and a dusty renovation…some fun would be really welcome! To my American friends…enjoy your holiday tomorrow! We don’t have the day off tomorrow here in Canada so it will be work and school as normal here. If you have any textured tape and wish to share your designs with me…I’d love to see them. Feel free to link in the comments below! 🙂

Simply Saturday…{spring simpliticy}

A sweet simple design for spring. This set is fast becoming one of my faves and it is perfect for simple designs. Beautiful, elegant and great for those days when you just want to stamp. Not distress, layer, color…just stamping at its simplest form.

Simply Friends Always

jks-simply-friends-always.jpg

This design is stamped with one of the latest Lizzie Anne Designs sets…. Far East. To create this jks-simply-friends-close-up.jpgdesign, I simply inked up the branch with Chocolate Chip and Pretty in Pink markers and stamped my impression. The flowers were added with a separate stamp in Pink Sherbert Adirondack ink. I then added the little lantern hanging from the branch. I just love how crisp and clean the impression is using the rubber stamps. The sentiment is also part of the set and is highlighted with another tiny pink flower. A little scrap of May Arts ribbon was knotted and adhered to the design with a glue dot. To highlight the flowers…a tiny dot of Liquid Pearls adds an accent and a hint of texture.

Quick Tip: When embellishing clean, simple designs…just use one or two subtle embellishments. In this case…less if definitely more. 🙂

Wishing you a wonderful day. Hoping your weekend is simply the {best}.

Butterfly

I know….January is now half over already! How DID that happen? I’m just now getting a chance to play with this month’s CHF stamp of the month…a beautiful butterfly stamp by Asela Hopkins. I love butterflies…I think we all do. There is something about that metamorphasis from caterpillar to cacoon to butterfly. One of those everyday miracles we often take for granted.

Butterfly Thanks

jks-butterfly-sotm.jpg

This card uses a couple backgrounders together with last week’s CPS46 sketch. I loved it so much, I just had to give it another whirl. This time I flipped it to have that semi-circle panel on the right side. The lace backgrounder is stamped in Canvas Palette Hybrid ink to give the illusion of another layer.

The Delicate Wings image itself is stamped in black and then colored in with my Copic markers. To add some extra interest…a little free-style stitching encircles the main image. I wanted to go with a soft vintage style for this design and added a strip of Making Memories vintage lace along the top of the design. A Prima flower, a Making Memories pearl sticker and pin add a simple accent to the top right corner.

Happy, happy Friday! Have a great weekend and check back in tomorrow for a simply Saturday design… this one is one of my faves. 🙂
