The Rose Garden…

I’m so excited to share my favorite stamp design from this latest release of Thomas Kinkade stamps. Released today…you can stop over at Cornish Heritage Farms and check them out. Four beautiful spring/summer themed stamps with lovely sentiments and the CHF gallery has so many gorgeous samples. I love flowers and these stamps are blooming with them!

Rose Garden Birthday Design

I’m going to give this card to my aunt for her birthday next month. She loves flowers too and I know she will like it. This stamp, The Rose Garden was inked with Brilliance Graphite Black from Tsukineko and was carefully colored with my Copic markers. When coloring a detail design with Copic markers…I start light and keep building up my color until I have all the shadows and depth in the design. A good way to think of it is like a painting…daubing on color…an impressionistic type technique.

After closely trimming the image I matted it with Natural Smooth cardstock by Prism and then Razzleberry Medium cardstock. The main card base is a Natural Smooth 5.25″ square card base layered with Spring Willow Dark. The willow is stamped with my Spanish Script backgrounder in Stewart Superior Burnt Umber ink.

To create the sentiment…I didn’t want to cover up and take away from the beautiful image. To add a very subtle sentiment I stamped “Wishing you a birthday as beautiful as a rose,” onto a transparency with my black Stazon ink. Stitched to the card on the right side, this sentiment is much more visible in person as the light hits it as you pick it up.

My final touch…a couple layered Prima flowers held to the card design with a Karen Foster lacing brad.
