Wow! I seem to be in super slow gear this morning. I’ve been sitting here for 5 minutes drawing a blank on how to start writing this post. Well, getting started seems to be half the battle so that is what I’m doing. LOL If I think of something better, I’ll change it. If not…you’ll just know that it is one of those days! I’d dearly love to crawl back into bed! Of course I can’t. Busy day and I promised my daughter we’d go get her lerner’s permit so she can practice driving. Yikes!
As you know, I host the Thursday Ways to Use it Challenge on www.splitcoaststampers.com . I love stripes and thought that they would make a super fun challenge. I’ve heard that some people have trouble using them. Depending on the scale of the stripes, they can be a little overpowering. If you find stripes a challenge, one way that I use them is in small doses. Try cutting a 1-1.5″ strip across the striped paper and using it as an accent layer.
Here’s a few ideas for incorporating stripes into your work…
- patterned paper- backgrounder, or thin layers
- stamp them using a striped backgrounder
- use a long vertical border stamp and repeatedly stamp to create your own stripes
- stitch stripes onto cardstock
- use a zebra or tiger stamp
- paper piece using striped paper
- create your own stripes using creative supplies such as paint, markers, Stickles etc.
- striped ribbon
Want to play along? Here’s the challenge!
Oh Shoot
For today’s card, it’s actually nothing too creative with using stripes but I just couldn’t wait to try out this new Cosmo Cricket paper. Is it not darling?! I used my Dymo Label Maker to create a custom sentiment. The first time I saw this super cute stamp, I just knew I wanted to create a design with this play on words. My little boys love it and have been fighting over this card. I ended up letting them play with the stamp and they have been stamping up a storm! 🙂
Have a great day!
