and still more Christmas!

I must confess, that I still have MORE Christmas designs to share with you. July was a super busy month and here’s a few cards I haven’t had time to share here yet. I think this may be the last of Christmas until September as I can spy a super sweet winter set on the calendar then. 🙂 These two designs feature images from the B&O line release the other week. The first does have a train in the picture but you may be wondering how the Mary and Joseph image fits into this train line. B&O has a beautiful collection of vintage art to choose from and Lisa couldn’t resist using this classic image. I’m so glad as I love it!

Christmastide Train

jks-christmastide-train.jpg

I’m loving the way this color combo turned out but I must confess, I was actually going to with an aqua and green with kraft color combo for this project. I pulled out my Distressed Circles Scrapblock to add a background with and inked it up with white pigment ink. Imagine my surprise after stamping when I realized I had put the rubber away without properly cleaning off the pink ink. The resulting color is actually really pretty so I went with it. I’ve been searching for the project I last stamped with the Scrapblock in hopes that I might be able to figure out exactly what ink was on there but sorry…I just can’t figure it out.

jks-christmas-tide-close.jpg

This image is so beautiful and detailed, I decided to leave it simple and just highlight in some of the Christmas tree lights. I dotted on soft aqua and pink color with my Copic markers for an easy and vintage look.

Quick Tip: Do as I say…not as I do! 😉 Clean your rubber BEFORE you put it away.

Christmas Travelers

jks-christmas-travelers.jpg

This image is so pretty stamped on its own, I went with a super clean look. I love using all white cardstock for a project. By adding texture and ink, it is easy to define the layers but gives a very classic, subtle look.

Just Around the Corner

I truly hate to think of it. Summer is just so short here in Canada! BUT…the truth is, Autumn is just around the corner. I think August is one of those bittersweet kind of months. You know Fall is coming and you try and eek out every last bit of summer and vacation before the kids go back to school. As I always design a little ahead, that means some Autumn themed cards will be my focus soon. Today’s card combines the new Kim Hughes’ Autumn Trees stamp set with the Ways to Use it Challenge. I love Kim’s fun style and this set follows along with her Spring Trees and Summer Trees theme. So sweet!

Now if you’re like me…you love a good challenge so I’ll get right to it! I’m glad to be back after a few weeks off and today’s challenge is a fun one…pleats. Pleated paper, pleated ribbon…whatever you can think of. Check out the challenge here.

Welcome Autumn

jks-welcome-autumn-full.jpg

To create my pleats, I freehanded pleating the flower and used a Scor-Pal for the pleated border. I used a 1.5″ x 12″ strip of patterned paper to create them. The straight pleated border will measure 4.25″ wide when scored at 1″ and 1/2″ intervals alternately and then folded.

Quick Tip: Sand the edges of the pleats to highlight them.

Supply List:

Stamps: Autumn Trees ( Kim Hughes line) by CHF

Ink: Black Memento by Tsukineko

Paper: Kraft cardstock by Bazzill Basics, Bloom & Grow paper pack by MME

Other: Copic markers, Scor-Pal, ribbon, button by Autumn Leaves, sandpaper

August SOTM

Each month at CHF brings a new Stamp of the Month. I’m always excited to see what it is as there is always a different flavor of image and they are always a great addition to my stamp collection. This month the SOTM is a mini stamp set of four stamps that work well together. The with sympathy sentiment is just beautiful and while sympathy cards are by their nature, not my favorite to make, they are very necessary to send. Of course, the images are beautiful and flexible and you can always change the sentiment out with another to make this set work for other occasions. Sympathy Collage is selling this month only for $5.99. Of course it will be available next month as well but not at this price.

Today’s sample is just super simple using various colors of Memento ink and paired up with Basic Grey June Bug paper.

School Primer

I really don’t want to think about back to school just quite yet, but I DID have fun creating a few more designs with Becky‘s new School Primer All Things Considered set. My absolute favorite images from this set are the journaling ATC background…I think I may use that frame on everything!, & that darling little girl reading a book. That was me. 😉 I read a book between classes, while walking to school, staying up late under the covers…just about everywhere. My favorite way to relax is still reading a book. School Primer is released today and you can find other sweet samples here.

 My Dear Children

jks-my-dear-children.jpg

Back in the 80’s, I had a lovely argyle vest and socks for back to school one year! LOL I still associate argyle patterns with school. And seriously…I just can’t get enough of this Lemonade 6×6 paper pad by Basic Grey. I’ve created SO many designs out of this one little pad of paper! While I’ve loved the other lines and paper pads,  this one has the most paper missing by far!

This and That… a couple pubs

I’m busy right now designing another stamp set so I haven’t had much time to actually sit down and stamp. I find I work best focusing on one thing or the other.  I thought I’d share a couple published designs with you today that were in two different Cardmaker special publications. Before I do, I have a winner of my latest rubber giveaway. I used an on-line number generator to pick #34 as the winner of the Night Before Christmas stamp set. Congrats Jennifer Scull! Please send me an e-mail and I’ll get this out in the mail to you.

First Birthday

first-birthday.jpg

This first one is from the Cardmaker Sketch Book: Birthday Celebration. It’s a great resource and full of creative sketches to help jump start your cardmaking projects. I created a first birthday design using one of the sketches. The darling little elephant is from Kim Hughes’ Baby Love set.

 Deck the Halls

jks-deck-the-halls-fold-car.jpg

jks-deck-the-halls-tree-car.jpg

This second card is from Fabulous Folds for Cardmaking. It’s a super cool book with lots of unique and creative techniques to make fun and interactive cards. I used an easy diagonal fold to create this pop of Christmas tree inside my card design.

Have a creative day!
