It has been so busy, I can do with a little more peace! 😉 This is a quick Christmas card featuring the new Flourishes Peace stamp set that has just been released. I love how the beautiful calligraphy scroll turns into a bird. I paired it up with some beautiful snowflake paper from Fancy Pants for a nice cool look. It just doesn’t seem like September today. So hot and humid! Yikes! I needed something a little fresh to cool me down.
Snowflake Peace Design
As I mentioned above, this design is really simple. I let the sentiment and the pretty paper do most of the work for me. Christmas cards are actually better simple, especially if you are mass producing them. You don’t want to bite off more than you can chew! LOL
To make my sentiment stand out on this design, I used some black and Soft Sky cardstock that had been die-cut into these beautiful ovals. The new, super-cool Spellbinders Nestabilities dies are now available at Flourishes and you can pre-order them there if you wish. Along the edges of the scalloped oval, I inked the edges with my white craft ink pad and then embossed them with my sparkly Irridescent Ice embossing powder. I wanted to capture the icy look of the snowflakes. In each scallop, I pierced a little hole with my paper piercer. The scallops make it so easy just to “eyeball” it and make even dots around the oval.
The Peace stamp itself was stamped in Versamark ink and then embossed with Black Sparkle embossing powder by Stampendous. You can pick this up at Michael’s. To add a little shading to the sentiment, I took my aquapainter and then highlighted the strokes of the letters by shading one side to create a shadow. For the lower sentiment, it is stamped directly onto the paper near the bottom with Black ink.
To put together the design, I stitched the patterned paper to the cardstock and then tied the card with a black dotted organdy ribbon. The ovals are then adhered over top of the ribbon. To add a little interest to the design I used a Heidi Swapp snowflake. I just love these snowflakes! You can use them as is, stamp on them but for this card, I painted the reverse side to make it stand out a little with my white Making Memories paint.
