Ooh La La… zee French poodle

I just love this set! The new Lizzie Anne Designs Ooh La La stamp set. I can’t put it down! I know I should move on and feature some of the other new sets but I’m groovin with this one right now. Hope you can put up with a few more! LOL There is a couple more still to come! πŸ˜‰

I’m just had to call it zee French Poodle… I’m not sure if any of you have ever watched Veggie Tales and have seen zee French Peas that talk with a darling accent. Little green peas that have a beret on their head. They crack me up! My kids love Veggie Tales..they are hilarious and always have a great message. Even my husband and 17yo son will sit and watch when i pick up a new release. Shhhh…don’t let them know I told you! πŸ˜‰

Zee French Poodle

For this design, I was inspired by this piece of patterned paper that was on my desk leftover from another design project. Soooo….pretty and it looks pretty French in style to me. of course…what do I know?! LOL But still! What do you think? It’s by Rhonna Farrer for Autumn Leaves and I just love the Purely Pomegranate and Soft Sky color combo…matches perfectly! I wanted to break up the layout for this design with another layer but didn’t want to cover up the beautiful paper…what to do? I just layered it on top of itself! LOL And it seems to work!

For the main image…I just had to try out this beautiful scalloped box stamp. The little poodle (and the other coordinating stamps) all fit perfectly into it. I colored around the poodle by watercoloring with Soft sky ink and then the frame was painted with the Purely Pomegranate. The little dots were a little tricky to color around so I pulled out my Signo white gel pen and it was easy to make them white again.

Wrapped around the inner patterned paper layer is a beautiful May Arts ribbon…love it! The Ooh la la sentiment is stamped onto a small scrap of Soft Sky paper and then inked and stitched to the design over the ribbon. I always love a little embellishment and so… a dollar store brad fills the center of a lovely white Prima flower. πŸ™‚

I couldn’t resist…

I couldn’t resist doing today’s Technique Lover’s challenge! TLC133 – Gamsol and Colored Pencils so much fun. I had finally found my Gamsol and blending stubs over the weekend and so I decided to pair them up with this darling Boatlaods of Love stamp set. I can’t believe I’ve had this set since July and this is the first opportunity I’ve had to ink it up! It is soooo cute!

Friend-ship

jks-friend-ship.jpg

For this design I stamped my ship, clouds and sentiment in Palette Hybrid black in and then went to work coloring away with my pencils. Gamsol was great for blending it all together and getting a smooth, colored look.

For my design, i layered my 5.5″ Blue Bayou card base with my brand new Cosmo Cricket Little Boys paper collection. It is so darling i just love it. The 8×8 size is fabulous for cardmaking and it is so flexible…it doesn’t just need to be used for little boy card designs.

To highlight my sentiment, I added a label holder frame from SU’s Hodgepodge Hardware set and tied a ribbon to the top to tie in with my dotted red paper. To add more metal and dimension to the design, I added a little gold brad to the top of the ship and LOTS of eyelets along the bottom edge. I love all the circles..they seem to go so well with the portholes and life preservers on the ship. Lastly, I added some fun zig zag stitching in brown thread to the top of the design. Lot of fun…but now…I REALLY need to get back to work! πŸ™‚ Hope you enjoyed my very unscheduled break.

Ooh La La Merci – An Ivory And Charcoal Design

jks-ooh-la-la-merci-2.jpg

This Stampin Up paper, Charbon has got to be one of my new faves! I just love this rich and unique ivory and charcoal Grey look. It has a very elegant look and it really reminds me an on old Paris style. I had to try it out with the new Ooh La La stamp set to see how it would work. With the addition of some silver embellishments…I’m really pleased with the results. πŸ™‚ This is one of those cards where you really don’t need a lot of stamping..the images combined with the right paper are all you need. And so…I’m going to be few of words today. πŸ™‚ I just know you can figure this one out. And I know…you really need to get checking out that new stamp line! Have fun! While you are there…check out the new sketch book as well. Tricia has been super busy updating it with lots of great new designs from the design team!

Happy Monday! And oh…I’ll be back later with another design. πŸ™‚
