smiles & flurries

It’s cold outside and there are flurries in the air. I’m so thankful to have it as I love the beautiful freshness of winter. Might as well have some snow if it’s going to be cold, right?

The other day my daughter and I were enjoying the snow and she was kind enough to give into my nagging and allow me to shoot some photos before she left for school.

Today I’m back in the CLASSroom sharing this layout, and details on how it’s created. I hope you’ll stop by and join me!

Have a creative weekend!

the countdown continues…

Another day closer to Christmas!

I’m back with another holiday project and yes, another advent/countdown project. I know these are typically started at the beginning of December but I’m betting there just may be a few of you like me….a little behind this year.

I’m sharing this project as part of a Maya Road and Tombow Blog swap and I hope you’ll join me today here. There’s a great giveaway so don’t miss it! Who wouldn’t want a little gift for themselves this time of year?

Thanks so much for stopping by!

the countdown…

11 more days until Christmas!

I’m just starting the countdown now. Yes, I’m a little behind…even more so than usual. The good news is that I’m finally starting to feel much better and I’m just going to do the best I can with the time I have.

So for those of you who are behind like me, and still needing to create some holiday projects, I have a quick and easy Christmas easel to share with you today.

I’m loving the chalkboard trend and this sweet little easel would be a great place to countdown each day until Christmas. I’ve left some space to chalk in how many days are left and decorated the rest with some sweet Maya Road trims and goodies. It’s fun, festive and you can make it in a flash.

While I’m counting down until Christmas, I’m also counting the days until my daughter is home for the holidays. Just 3 more! I’m pretty sure I’m even more excited than she is. 🙂

Happy creating!

Supplies:

all boxed up

Ready for the holidays? I’m far from it but I have been doing a little shopping and wrapping.

One thing I’ve been working on is a little holiday idea I started last year when my daughter was away for her first year at university. I miss her so much and we’re always counting down the days until we can all be together again.

Last year I came up with the idea of an advent-type countdown until she gets home. One present for each day of December for her to open to help get through the stress of exams. It was a big hit, as you can imagine, and I wasn’t going to do it again but…

As you can see, I caved.

Just couldn’t resist.

What’s inside? Well, lots of goodies, just like you’d put in a stocking. Things to help with the winter cold, school supplies and whatever else caught my eye.

And of course, a little chocolate.

I’m not going to say too much and spoil the surprise!

Here’s a peek at last year’s countdown box.

Along with the little note I crafted.

There’s not too much paper crafting going on in this project…just a few little alphabet stickers to label for which day the gifts are to be opened…but I thought it might inspire someone to do the same thing. There’s still time! 🙂  It’s a bit of work but I think I enjoy it as much as she does!

Thanks for stopping by!

a very merry Christmas

This morning I’m rejoicing in the greatest gift of all. Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift! 2Corinthians 9:15

I’d also like to share a Christmas card I created to wish you all the merriest of Christmases! I hope you all have a wonderful day holding those you love close.

This card puts together many of my favorite things. I love stamped canvas so I’ve stamped the canvas button to coordinate with the canvas text background. The button is also stamped with a clock. I’ve used Ranger Archival inks for this as I find they work best for stamping on canvas and wood.

Wishing you the gifts of joy, hope and peace for the coming year. Merry Christmas!

holidays: wrapped up

Three more sleeps!

I’m making my list and checking it twice. Not to find out who is naughty or nice but to make sure I’m going to get everything done on time! I think it will all pull together in the end.

Yesterday I put together this paper crafted holiday gift bag to finish up my Christmas wrapping. I thought it would make a quick and easy but special way to wrap up a gift.

This project marks Day 22 of Holiday Inspiration on the Lily Bee Blog. Have you been stopping by to see all the fabulous ideas. I have quite a few marked off to try.

Supplies:

additional supplies: kraft gift bag, sewing machine, holiday ribbon
Wishing you the gifts of love, joy and peace this holiday season and for the year to come!

a vintage holiday banner

I admit it.

I’m a bit of a banner addict.

It’s just that they are so sweet and so much fun to create.

Today I have a vintage style  holiday banner to share that is now gracing a dresser-turned-sideboard in our eating area. I’ve been so busy (thank goodness everything is now off the printers) that it’s one of the few holiday decorations I have up yet. It’s adding some holiday cheer for which I am most grateful. I can’t wait till tomorrow. I actually have a “free” day that I’ve slated for pulling out my decorations.

My holiday banner is created with Craft-a-Board bases that I’ve cut into triangles. Craft-a-Board is a great  chipboard alternative. It’s an off-white color that is so much easier to ink and stamp on.

Here’s a closeup peek at one of the pennants. I’ve covered and accessorize each triangle with the beautiful Jingle collection by Lily Bee Design. I love the elegant and subtle festive look of this line.

Each pennant is trimmed with some pretty ruffled crochet trim and some wintery goodies.
