life

This time of year is all about new life.
Thinking about life has me remembering to make the most of each moment as I’ll only pass by this way once.

I’ve also been thinking about creative risks and experiments. Making my own art.

Here’s a little peek of some canvas wall art I’ve created.

I really enjoyed creating something new.

Want to see more or give it a whirl? I hope you’ll join me today in the CLASSroom for the entire project and step outs.

Wishing you a blessed Easter!

for the record

Just wanted to say… I can’t wait for more spring weather. With Easter being late this year, I was thinking the weather would be beautiful.

This morning, I woke up to more flurries in the air! What’s up with that?!

I’m holding onto hope though. I know that one of these days spring will stop teasing me and arrive in full splendor. I can’t wait!

A few weeks ago I was having fun with the For the Record line by Echo Park. Love it! Aren’t the colors delish? I put together a couple fun quick cards just for the love of crafting.

I love how the black makes everything pop!

Have a beautiful day!

stampy goodness!

Have you heard the buzzzzz?

There’s a new stamp club in town!

I so super excited to be part of it!

I don’t know if you’ve noticed but it’s been quite a while since I’ve been on a stamping design team. There’s a reason for that. I was waiting for just the right one to come along. One I could be excited about and this is it!

This fabulous new company is called Avocado Arts and it’s a monthly kit club. You’ll find high quality (and super trendy) polymer stamps and stamp sets that work together making stamping oh so easy-peasy.

Check out the uber-talented Pit Crew…

I’m so honoured to be working with this crew. We just can’t wait to get started!

I’m quite sure you know these ladies but stop by their blogs, check out their work and leave them some love…

AJ Otto

Becky Oehlers

Latisha Yoast

Intrigued yet? Well, how about a fun sneaky-peek?

Starting next week, we’ll be sharing sweet stamped designs featuring this kit so stay tuned.

Excited yet?!

There’s two places you’re going to want to bookmark so you can keep an eye on what’s coming up! Avocado Arts & the Avocado Arts Blog.

Happy Wednesday!

it’s a nice day…

It’s a nice day…

for some white wedding cards.

I love white for wedding cards.

So beautiful.

Timeless.

Fresh.

Elegant.

As wedding season will be around the corner soon, here’s a couple card designs I’ve created…

truly-madly-deeply.jpg

Supplies: white cardstock by Bazzill, 6×6 Basic White  paper pad by Basic Grey, flowers by Prima Marketing, rub-ons by Kaiser Craft

This card is stamped but still easy. To highlight the chandelier, I’ve stamped it and then sprayed it with Glimmer Mist to make the layer pop.

Supplies: White cardstock by Neenah, Jet Black Archival Ink by Ranger, Shabby French Stamp set by Tim Holtz, Electric Blue Glimmer Mist by Tattered Angels

Have a beautiful day!

Stickers

Stickers are one of those things you either love or hate. Stickers are actually super easy to use and can be a fun and quick way to add interest to a project. I think perhaps stickers got a bad name for themselves at the beginning of scrapbooking when many people added them willy-nilly all over the page. The sticker-sneeze look.

Mondays are product focus day on the Lily Bee Design blog and I’ve created a layout for today’s Focus on Stickers post.

One thing I really like to do with stickers is to sand their edges. Distressing them in this way just seems to make them work better on my designs.

For this layout, I’ve clustered quite a few of the stickers together as embellishments. Some are stapled and others are adhered to punched circles to add dimension to my page.

To accent my journaling, I’ve used a few of the stamps from the Picket Fence line stamp set.

Supplies: kraft cardstock by Bazzill, Oatmeal Patterned Paper from Stationary Line by Lily Bee Design, Al Frescho & Fresh Air patterned papers from Picket Fence line by Lily Bee Design,  Picket Fence stamps by Lily Bee Design, Thickers by American Crafts, circle punches, sanding block by Advantus, White Doily Transparency by Maya Road, rick rack, Tiny Attacher by Tim Holtz, rhinestones by MME, Tumbled Glass Distress Ink by Ranger, Edge Punch by Martha Stewart, Kraft Ticket by Maya Road

Happy creating!

Simply Saturday…a simple thank you

Sometimes we spend so much time creating complex designs that when we need a quick card, it’s hard to create them. I love creating in both styles and that’s why, most Saturdays, you’ll find a simple design post.

It doesn’t get much simpler than this. One layer of kraft cardstock, Lily Bee Design chipboard, twine and a rub-on.

I don’t want to waste your time on a busy Saturday but before I go, I just wanted to say thank you, thank you, thank you for all the comments left yesterday on my Stamping Royalty post. I am so blessed to have so many special and encouraging people in my life. Mwah! You’re the best! Thank you for allowing me to share.

Another exciting thing about yesterday was my studio was featured on the Lily Bee blog. If you’ve been reading Belle Papier for a while, you’ve seen it but if you’re new and haven’t, you may want to come check out my favourite little space. I designed it and the Mr. created it for me exactly how I wanted it. He’s a keeper, huh?

Have a simply wonderful weekend!

I stamp.

I love stamping.

I love challenges.

I love Paper Crafts magazine.

A contest that combines all three? Oh yah! I’m there!

You know where this is going now, don’t you?

🙂

So last week, I got a very exciting “birthday present” in the form of an e-mail a few hours before my birthday. An e-mail from the lovely P. Kelly Smith saying I was one of the 15 winners of the 2011 Stamping Royalty Card Contest. To say that made me smile would be an understatement!

With the amount of entries in this fabulous challenge, I really didn’t think I had much of a chance. I did have a feeling about the card that won though and said to a friend of mine, if I have the slightest chance, this will be it. It was the one! Oh yes, the card won in the love category. Nothing quite like a love note is there?

This is actually my second win at Stamping Royalty but it doesn’t get any less exciting the second time around. I also submitted and won a “royal spot” in 2009. It’s a contest dear to my heart and I keep my tiara on a shelf in my stamp room.

I cannot wait for my Stamping Royalty package to arrive. Seriously! Did you see all the cool stamps and product it contains! I’ll be stamping up a storm for a long time with it!

I’d love to share my winning card with you but that will have to wait until October 11th when the issue goes on sale. All the winning cards will be published in the Nov/Dec 2011 issue of Paper Crafts magazine. I can’t wait to see all the beautiful stamped designs.

I can’t wait to see who else won in this category so why don’t you join me as I hop over to Paper Crafts Connection and check it out?

Happy stamping!
