So Lovely

I love paper crafting projects that make fun decor for my home. I’ve been dying to make an altered Printers Tray and as the Lily Bee Design’s Lovely line works so well with my craft room decor, thought it would be a fun project to make.

I’m totally in love with the Lily Bee Design’s Lovely Collection. The soft colors and great patterns are so easy to design with and lend themselves well to the shabby look I love so much. Each little section is 2.75″x 3.75″ and were created separately but laid out with an eye for balancing the colors.

I loved creating each one to be a piece of joy in my life, reminding how blessed I am. My family, my husband, my home and a couple about grace and faith…all a big part of my life. I once came across a t-shirt that read, “Yes I am a Princess, I’m a daughter of the King of Kings.” It has stuck in my head since then and reminds me of to Whom I belong. Just in case you were wondering about that princess reference. 🙂 I’m totally not the diva type!

the bright side

So I should be doing a MILLION other things. My to do list is seriously long this week. I should be cleaning the kitchen.  I should be finishing up some projects. I should be getting groceries. Instead, the mail came with some new paper goodies and what do I do? I scrap of course.

I was bad and didn’t take any photos of my 40th birthday. I’m always the one behind the camera and that’s the way I like it. I did however take some photos of the beautiful flowers I got for my birthday and they worked themselves into a few thoughts on turning 40.

Lovin’ this new Basic Grey basics paper. I knew I would! Love journaling right on the lined paper and love how it just goes with everything. The sketch is the latest Creative Scrappers sketch #103.

Quick tip: The all white paper and accessories make the title and photo pop.

Supplies: cardstock by Bazzill, Basic White paper pack , Basic White Sticker Labels by Basic Grey, Thickers by American Crafts, rhinestones by Zva Creative, clock sheer by Maya Road, Tiny Attacher by Advantus, flowers by Hero Arts, Binding Edge Punch by EK Success

Happy Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day! I hope you’re enjoying a beautiful day with loved ones. We actually celebrated last night as all the kids would be home together. It’s getting to be an even busier house as the kids get older. I had some lovely gifts made at school from my little two that really made me smile.

This card made me smile to make it. I had some scraps of paper laying about which made themselves into a card. I’ve also been wanting to use my Tattered Florals  die some more, trying it out with some fabric. I had some pink felt that it cut through like butter and then stitched it together to make this blossom. In case you’ve been searching for this popular die, Ellen has it back in stock here.

Quick Tip: You can use the Sizzix BIGZ dies in your Cuttlebug. Just take out the white thick plate and sandwich the BIGZ die with two B plates to run through the machine. Works great!

Supply List: kraft cardstock by Bazzill, Jenni Bowlin white cardstock by Coredinations, Tim Holtz Tattered Florals Die by Sizzix,  pink felt, Vintage Button by Jenni Bowlin, Paper Doilies by Little Yellow Bicycle, Anytime Messages stamp set by Hero Arts, sewing machine, Trinket Pin by Maya Road, rhinestones by Zva Creative

Wishing you a beautiful day!

bling it on!

bling. bling. bling. I love it. While I’m not so big on wearing it, I really LOVE to create with it.

So I’m super excited and honored to be part of the new Zva Creative Design Team! I’ve been a huge fan of Zva products since their first release and look forward working with so many talented designers.  Congrats ladies! You can find the Zva Design Team list in my sidebar. I think you’ll agree it will be an awesome team to work with.

This is a fun little card I put together using some October Afternoon paper paired up with a gorgeous Zva Creative flourish. The pretty felt flowers are Zva too. I’m totally into pink and orange these days. To get the felt flowers under the rhinestones, adhere them before placing on the paper.

Have a sweet Saturday!

Addicted to Punches

I seriously never thought I’d get addicted to border punches but here I am. I’ve been adding one or two to my collection each month as they are just so pretty and easy to use. Today I’m in the CLASSroom with a couple card designs with step outs using punches. Here’s one of them…

Two Shall Be One

You can find the other here.

It’s also Mother’s Day this Sunday. Do you have any special plans? I’m hoping for a relaxing day. 🙂 If you’re interested in doing a little shopping for yourself or your mom, Ellen is having a Mother’s Day sale starting today.

Enjoy your weekend!

A Little Change of Pace

Yes you are on the right blog. 🙂 Just a little change of pace here. I know I usually don’t create clean and stamped cards but this is just the direction my brain went yesterday when I sat down to play with these stamps. It’s always fun to change up your style a little from time to time.

Today I have another Ways to Use it Challenge for you and this time it’s one of my favorite embellishments, pins. You can use straight pins, safety pins, trinket pins…whatever you can think of. Here’s the challenge link…

Enjoy the Moments

This Hero Arts image was stamped onto white cardstock and then colored with Copic Markers. The pin acts as an embellishment but also helps draw your eye to the highlighted part of the sentiment.

Supply List: white and kraft cardstock by Bazzill, Floral Labels & Enjoy the Moment stamps by Hero Arts, Copic Markers, sewing machine, Pearl Trinket Pin by Maya Road, Black Memento Ink by Tsukineko, White Craft Ink by Clearsnap, twine

Quick Tip: Emphasize a word in your sentiment by changing it out with another color on top.

I almost forgot to tell you how the class went last night. I had a great time, met some wonderful ladies and they all signed up for the next one. Yay! Can’t wait!

Happy stamping!

tonight’s the night

I’m sure excited about tonight. And of course, if I’m honest (and I always try to be) a little nervous too. Tonight I’m teaching my first scrapbooking class so I’ll do my best to get over my shyness and teach what I know.  I’ll let you know how it went. I’ve also just finished up designing the project for my next class on Wednesday June 9th.

bon voyage

Wednesday, June 2nd
6:30 – 8:30

We’ll be using fussy cutting and distress techniques with a travel theme on a 12×12 layout. We’ll be continuing the techniques onto an accompanying card as well.

I’d love to have you join me. 🙂

On another note: I’ve added a lot of new cards to my Etsy store over the past few weeks. Some of them have been published. If you’re interested, check it out.

Take care,
