Sweet Saturday

I just had to share a little bit of sunshine with you today.

Aren’t they gorgeous?! I just love the colors. Some sweet friends sent them to me for my birthday this past week. I’ve been enjoying them ever since.

I also have something else to share that I’m super excited about.

Getting Inky

Now that Easter’s past,  I thought I’d start thinking ahead to the next big celebration…Mother’s Day. And believe it or not…I actually stepped away from patterned paper for a change and created with lots of pretty ink techniques. Today I’m sharing this project in the CLASSroom with a tutorial and step outs. I hope you’ll join me here and give it a try.

One more quick note… if you were here yesterday and read about Ellen’s great Hero Hues sale of 15% off Hero Arts, we just wanted to let you know she’s had a few glitches with the coupon code. If you order, you’ll want to use  HeroHues15 instead to make things simpler. If you did already order…no worries! Ellen make everything right. Thanks!

Have a beautiful day!

Angled Interest

First of all, thank you all so much for all the lovely birthday wishes yesterday. Hearing from you made my day and I had a wonderful one at that. A little “me” time,a little creating, some retail therapy, some beautiful flowers and an evening with some sweet friends made it a very special day.

So often we design around squares and rectangles for a very angular design. Lately I’ve been playing around with diagonal lines to shake things up a little. Diagonals are great as they help move the eye through the design and really, you don’t need any special products to incorporate them into your work. Today I’d like to challenge you to give it a whirl and share how you use diagonals in your work. It may be stripes, a diagonal plaid, ribbons etc. but find a way to incorporate something on a 45° angle (or any angle)to take your creativity into a new direction. I hope you’ll play along. Here’s the challenge link.

Today I decided to piece together some Material Girl patterned paper on the angle and then emboss on top of it. I love this fun Birdcage stamp by Hero Arts. I’m totally into Hero Arts these days.  If you love Hero Arts, you may be interested to hear that Ellen has some great Hero Hues information on her blog today and also a sale on Hero Arts this week. You can find the details here.

Birdcage Thanks

Now I will admit, I thought I had used regular black embossing powder but instead had pulled out Embossing Puffs. I’ll watch better next time as regular embossing powder does give a crisper image.

Quick Tip: Adhere the patterned paper tightly together edge to edge. Avoid overlapping as it may cause places to be un-inked when stamped on leaving you with breaks in the image.

Supplies: Birdcage stamp by Hero Arts, Thanks stamp from Anytime Messages set by Hero Arts, kraft cardstock by Bazzil, Neenah Solar White cardstock, Black Embossing Puffs by Ranger, Material Girl 6×6 paper pad by Cosmo Cricket,  Celery Silk Ribbon by May Arts, twine, pin and crystal by Maya Road

Have a wonderful day!

Floral Bouquet

Don’t you just love Spring? It’s one of my favorite seasons. I love walking outside each morning to see the changes a day has brought. It’s amazing now much the perennials are growing each day. This sweet Spring Flowers stamp was one I just had to have. I love all the sweet details Karen puts into her Lockhart stamps and this one was especially a joy to color.

Spring Flowers Card

Now today I turn….gasp!….40, so I’m off to enjoy my day.  I’m thinking a new book and a little shopping trip just may be in order. My present this year is going to CKC Buffalo and meeting my sweet friend Becky. Can’t wait!

Thanks for stopping by!

April Showers…

April showers bring May flowers. After an incredible Easter weekend that seemed more like summer, it’s back to April showers here. What a dreary day. That’s OK though as I know beach weather is just around the corner.

Today I thought I’d share a couple beach layouts with you. I think this pretty much finishes up my 30 in 30 layouts. I need to get back to creating some more.

Beach Bliss

The photo on the left of this layout is printed onto Claudine Hellmuth Sticky back Canvas. Jenni Bowlin papers can be found here.

Beach baby

This layout is a bit simpler and one of my first. If you’re getting back into scrapbooking, start simple and work up from there.

Have a great day!

Happy Easter

Another Card Patterns sketch here today and I thought these pretty daffodils would be perfect for Easter. I adore daffodils. Of course as I have a very limited green thumb, anything so bright and cheery that comes up each year with little work gets high marks in my book.

Sketch 58 is a fun and unique sketch…

Canvas flower

I adore flowers. Lately there has been a wealth of flowers everywhere. I especially love the look of one pinned on a cardigan. I decided to create my own artsy fabric version to wear this spring. Some paint, dies and stickyback canvas made for a fun project.

Today I’m in the CLASSroom sharing the tutorial and step outs. I hope you’ll join me here.
