a little bit of sunshine – sketch 61

I was a little nervous using this week’s Card Patterns sketch. I’m used to designing with a few more layers to be sure. I’m really thrilled with how it turned out though. Some of my favorite paper and a little creativity made it work. This week is sketch 61 and is sponsored by Limelights. I hope you’ll join us this week! Here’s the link.

My first thought when seeing this sketch was to add a piece of patterned paper or wide lace where the black part of the sketch was. Totally fine but I thought I’d try for something a little more original. I love taking a layer down instead of up for a change and decided to tear away a strip to reveal and inner paper. The edges were curled up by hand. Totally an accident but it made my day…when the paper was flipped over (it’s two sides of the same paper) the stripes lined up perfectly. Love that! And I am totally in love with Jillibean Soup!
