Thanksgiving Leaves and Making the Grade

This week has really gotten me down. A nasty cold/flu/whatever has had me sick all week and I haven’t done the slightest bit of creating. Sigh. Hopefully I’ll be back to normal soon.

I was thinking what I could share today and I came up with two things. Some photos from our Thanksgiving on Monday and a new class I’ll be teaching next week. I’m hoping I’ll have my voice back by then!

Getting into the fall theme was quick and easy for decorating my table on Monday. Sometimes it’s best to go simple, especially when there is a turkey to be stuffed and some pies to bake.

These sweet leaves were die cut using the Tattered Leaves die and the new Lily Bee Design Catching Fall line of papers. To add in a little texture I die-cut some canvas and some kraft cardstock. I thought it would be fun to write names on the kraft leaf at each place as a place marker. It ended up not happening but maybe next year!

Quick Tip: Save the die cut leaves for another project when finished using them. Stay tuned as I plan to do that!

My next class is called Making the Grade. Some beautiful Crate Paper makes up a 12×12 layout and we’ll be creating a little gift bag as well.

Have a great weekend!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I’m taking today off to count my blessings, enjoy the beautiful weather, spend some time in the kitchen cooking up a storm and spending lots of family time.

If you’re looking for a little fall inspiration, here’s some beautiful Ontario leaves.

Wishing all my Canadian family and friends a very special Thanksgiving Day!

4 star day

Did you think I’d had enough of summer layouts for awhile?

You thought wrong.

It’s my favorite time of year and I scrap it all seasons.

We try to make the best of all the seasons too. This week is Canadian Thanksgiving and the weather is gorgeous. I’m so glad that “Indian Summer” showed up in time for us to enjoy three beautiful days of it! We’re determined to enjoy every last minute of it and hopefully spend lots of them out on the water.

4 star day

I’ve been waiting for months for the October Afternoon Seaside line and was so excited to finally get my hands on some! Pairing it up with these beautiful Zva Creative Crystal stars was so much fun and tied in the title too. Who says you can’t use bling for boys?

Supplies: Crystal Stars CRS02CB113 and  Red Corduroy Brad BR01CB104 by Zva Creative, cardstock by Bazzill, Seaside patterned paper, Wild Cards & Word stickers by October Afternoon, chipboard by Pink Paislee, sewing machine, Red Felt Thickers by American Crafts, dymo label maker, Kraft Ticket by Maya Road

Have a wonderful weekend!

happy life

I think we have a pretty happy life.

It’s fun having a large family and we try to find lots of time for each other. If you’re read this blog for any length of time you’ll know how much we like to spend time on the lake.

I took this photo of my second youngest and just love his smile.

This is the first full peek at the new September Up the Street scrapbooking kit to be shared here. It’s a fabulous mix of papers and goodies. I’ve created quite a few girl layouts but I especially love how well this kit works for the guys. I’ve got plenty of those in my life.

You’ll be able to check out all the kit goodies on the Up the Street blog on September 1st. Can you believe that’s tomorrow?!

Here’s the detail shot of all the layers. I loved combining them all into one intense area.

Quick Tip: Write journaling on dark paper with a white gel pen.

Have a happy day…

good to the last scrap.

I like making the most of things whether it be time, events or paper crafting scraps.

Today’s layout is a fun way to use up all those scraps of my favorite papers that just can’t bear to throw out. You can find this layout and details  on the Lily Bee Design’s blog.

Summer Fun

I love this photo. Recently our family and some friends took a short trip to Gananoque. The Thousand Islands are stunning. We made the most of the last couple hours we were there by having a fabulous time jumping off the pier.

Quick Tip: Repeat patterns and colors throughout the stitched scraps piece for balance and continuity.

Supplies: Hello Sunshine and Lovely line papers, rub-ons and chipboard by Lily Bee Design, sewing machine, white cardstock by Bazzill, button and Stitched Brads by Basic Grey, lace ribbon, twine, Chipboard letters by Pink Paislee and American Crafts

Take care,

So Cool

Do you remember way back to February when I really started scrapbooking again? I loved those daily challenges even though 30 in 30 was a lot to taken on at once. It was well worth it as I love making layouts and finding a balance in why I started paper crafting in the first place.

The other day I was looking at my past layouts and it struck me that I hadn’t shared them all yet. This is one of those layouts and as it is a particularly steamy day here I thought it would be great to think “cool”.

This layout was created with a Jenni Bowlin kit. You’ll notice the photos are almost identical but each have a totally different look. The top right photo is printed onto regular glossy photo paper and the large photo is actually printed onto Claudine Hellmuth Sticky Back Canvas. I love this look! You don’t need any special printer or ink either. I just ran it through my HP inkjet printer for this fabric look.

Stay cool!

happy

What makes you happy?

For me it’s many things. My husband, my family, creating, faith and many simple things.

I recently came across this old photo of my daughter and yes, it made me happy.

What more of an excuse do you need to create something?

This layout is today’s CLASSroom post with step outs on creating the background. Why not join me here?
