share the story

It’s never too late to scrapbook.

Go back and pull out those old photos and make a mini album. I used to think that I had to scrapbook consecutively and I had to document each and every photo.

Well that is just a recipe for stress and can totally take the fun out of a hobby. In fact it stalled me and for quite a few years I quit scrapbooking altogether.

Today I scrapbook what I want, when I want. Lately I’ve been addicted to mini albums. So small and sweet and I can embellish as much as my heart desires.

This mini album is one I finally created for my daughter using her elementary school photos. She’s about to start her third year of university but that’s ok. Better late than never.

Today I’m sharing this mini album on the Maya Road Blog. Stop by for more photos of the project.

Have a creative day!

To Have & To Hold

I can hardly believe it’s been almost a week since that special day. Last Saturday my son, James and his wife were married and it was the most beautiful day. To see them both so happy together made my heart so full with joy. All of their siblings on both sides were in the wedding party and such a beautiful day and celebration of love & family.

I had a very small hand in the wedding prep being the mother of the groom, but was thrilled to create a few digital projects for them. The above word art is one I created for them. A surprise for Shannon actually. It was framed 18×24″ and is for their new home but it decorated the wedding reception as well.

Trying to enjoy the day and keep track of my smaller children, the ring bearers, I ended up not being able to pull out my good camera and so, have very few pictures to date. The above photo is a quick snap on my phone, taken shortly after the ceremony.

I’ve also been begging and borrowing photos from family and friends while we wait for the professional photos to come back. My sister-in-law Elizabeth took this one. I think they both look stunning.

Once again, James & Shannon, I wish you every joy and blessing!

i do

The past couple weeks have just flown by. I don’t think I’ve ever gone two weeks without posting since I started this creative blog years ago. There’s been lots going on at my house and tomorrow is the big day. I am so excited for my oldest son and his beautiful bride as they say their vows tomorrow. Something tells me there will be a few tears. Of joy of course!

Their wedding card from me is simple and elegant and suits them well. I hope they like it! You’re actually getting a peek at it before they do.

Today I’m in the CLASSroom sharing the step outs and details. I hope you’ll join me!

I’d also like to take this time to congratulate James and Shannon. I couldn’t be happier for you both! Wishing you every joy, blessing and happiness on your wedding day and always!

Looking Back

With a new computer comes all the joys of reinstalling all your software. More of a hassle than I joy I should say. I did however, have some fun backing up and reloading some older digital photos. Looking back through them made me nostalgic and more than a little shocked at how quickly time is passing by.

Over the weekend we had some exciting news. My son proposed to his girlfriend in a hot air balloon Saturday night. We are so happy for them and looking forward to their big day. But I have to ask… How can I be old enough to be a mother-in-law?!

Here’s a photo of their hands that I snapped on Saturday night…

Flashback now seven years to the summer my youngest was born. It was a busy crazy summer and I was so thankful for my daughter’s help with her little brothers. Her love for them hasn’t changed and she has the biggest heart. Today’s layout is about that. She doesn’t care for the photos but I think she was so cute in that red surfboard tshirt and her mirrored sunglasses. So glad I found the photos.

Today’s layout was created for the Lily Bee Blog sketch challenge. It’s a wonderful sketch by Cindy Liebel and you can join us for more details here.

Quick Tip: It’s never too late to go back and scrapbook those older memories.

Happy Monday!

Among the most treasured of times in my life, are those when each of my children were young. Babies bring such joy and hope, remind us of the preciousness of life and each is a gift from God.
While all my babies are growing up and couple are adults now, I wanted to create this little baby album for one of my boys. It’s a wonderful way to reminisce and create a tiny album for my child to treasure in the years to come.

If you’ve been reading my ramblings for any length of time, you’ll know just how much I love working with canvas. It’s just feels so wonderful and I love altering it. This little star album fits in the palm of my hand and has been stamped, inked and misted.

Today I’m sharing this album on the Maya Road blog. Please join me for more photos and details on this album.

Have a creative day!

so sweet…

How quickly time passes has been on my mind a lot these days. It makes me remember that time is precious and my most valuable commodity. It’s making me reevaluate how I spend my time. Making me take a closer look at my direction and goals.

This mindset also has me looking back on sweet and precious moments and going through old albums. I’m feeling quite nostalgic. I’m remembering those beautiful days when my children were small.

All this looking back has inspired me to start scrapbooking those photos from before I discovered paper crafting. This darling photo of my daughter inspired this soft and sweet layout.

Did you notice that I used very little patterned paper on this layout? I think it may be a first for me. Just one little scrap. It’s on the chipboard heart and came from the Lily Bee Design Head Over Heels Tiny Tablet.

To create my layout I used the Lily Bee Design Head Over Heels Index Cards to create a collage to frame the photo.

My background is on plain white cardstock that has been misted and stamped to add some interest to all the white space.

Take time to smell the roses!

i like it…

From some humble beginnings… a cardboard lid, comes a little mini album that is near and dear to my heart. It’s a little album about things I like, right now in 2011.

It’s messy and stampy, out-of-my-box and is all manner of things all hodge-podged together.

And do you know what?

I had the most fun creating this album than I have anything in a long time.

I love the randomness.

The imperfection.

I love it for all the ink and paint on my fingers creating it.

Today I’m super excited to be the first guest designer at the brand-new Lessology Blog. Lessology is a new challenge blog dedicated to altered things. It’s all about the beauty and artistry of using less. OK, OK, When you look at this album you don’t see “less”. I have fun putting everything and anything that appealed to me on it. But the basic album was created with upcycled cardboard and everything you see on it I had in the house. A lot of it is bits and pieces I had laying around that needed used up.

I hope you’ll stop by and join me today at Lessology for photos, all the details on this album and how to make it.

It seems like today is a busy, busy day for me. Stay tuned as I’ll be back!

Happy creating!
