A Hit of Orange

I really didn’t intend to but I ended up taking a bit of an impromptu blogging break. It’s not often I take three whole days off but I guess after three years, it seems like a good thing to do. We had a long weekend here, Monday was family day in Ontario, and I had some company visiting as well as some assignments to finish up. I’d also gotten seriously behind in my 30 in 30 scrapbooking page challenge but I’m happy to say, I’m finally back on track with that as well. Yay me! I was getting a little concerned there. I have today, tomorrow and Saturday to finish up the last three layouts and then I’m done. It’s been a fun journey and one I’ll keep sharing with you as the days go by. I’ve learned a lot and had some fun experimenting and while I’m not committing to a layout a day permanently, I’m hoping to make it a more regular thing.

Before I share the challenge, I thought I’d better get right to the blogaversary winner. Thanks so much for all the sweet comments. I appreciate each one. The on-line random.org number generator picked the winner for me….number 39.

Congratulations  Conniecrafter! Please e-mail me your address (link at top of the sidebar) and I’ll get the goodies out to you asap!

And finally, the challenge… Orange is a color I often struggle with and I thought it would be fun to challenge myself, and you, to play with it. How do you use orange? In a bright and funky design? In a tropical combo? In a masculine project? I’d love to see how you use orange in your designs. I hope you’ll play along with the challenge here.

well, HELLO baby

Do you start cards that you’re not quite sure where they’re going to end up? That’s usually the way I design although sometimes I plan details from the start. This card started with the idea of using orange in a fun way. I decided to stamp my Newspaper Ads Scrapblock in orange and go from there. I often get derailed and this project was no exception. For some strange reason I decided to stop and clean out my box of My Mind’s Eye papers.  I said good-bye to everything pre-2009 and in the remaining product, found this darling little orange brad that said well, HELLO! I thought it would make a darling welcome baby card and went from there. It’s a fun mix of vintage and new and the fun pink and orange color combo.
