Background Check

One of the things that initially drew me to stamping was the ability to stamp an image again and again. The more I learned about rubber stamping, the more I discovered how to create different looks from one stamp. One of my favorite types of stamps are Backgrounders. Large card-front size images of red rubber goodness…these stamps can be used it so many different ways. This week, I challenged the CHF design team and YOU…to pull out your backgrounder stamps and see what you can create with them. You’ll be surprised at how many cool techniques and ways to stamp them there are.

Lately one of my favorite ways to use a Backgrounder stamp is to paint it up! Imagine that…passing by the ink and heading straight for the paint. I love the “artsy” look and how well the opaque paint stamps on paper. The best product I’ve found for “inking” rubber with paint is the Ranger Paint Dabbers. These are just like bingo dabbers and easily apply paint without brushes. I LOVE that there are no brushes to clean. I’ve been wanting to stamp this Wood Grain Backgrounder in Pink Sherbet paint on top of kraft cardstock for a while now. It looks just like I imagined…love it!

The main butterfly on this design is stamped, cut out and then colored with a pink Spica pen by Copic. You can’t see the shine in the photo but you definitely  can in person.

Quick Tip: To clean paint from your rubber stamp…simple rinse off in the sink while will wet. Dry with a paper towel.

Now I’m off to check out the rest of the designs! Have a fabulous day!
