Watercoloring… a challenge

beautiful-dream-slice.jpg

There are so many coloring mediums out there that I love but sometimes…I tend to get stuck in a rut on which one I use. It’s been quite a while since I did much watercoloring and so I thought it would make a great challenge! If you love to watercolor or simply need a push to get watercoloring again…we’d love to have you join us for this challenge.Whether you use watercolor tubes, blocks, crayons, pencils or dye inks…there is lots of room for variety in this medium.

Beautiful Dream

I’ve always loved the soft dreamy look of watercolors. Something about the way the paint blends…wow…you just can’t get it any other way. I actually use my Ranger Adirondack Reinkers for watercoloring with and they are super easy to use. Just a small dot of paint on a scrap of plastic and I’m ready to go.

At first I was going to watercolor an image for this challenge but then decided to try something a little different…create my own watercolored background paper. I began by stamping my Distress Grid Scrapblock™ onto watercolor paper with black Stazon ink. Using two different reinkers, Stonewashed and Lettuce, I applied the color with my waterbrush and lots of water to make it blend.

To add accent stamping to my design…I decided to pull out my new Inchie Style set from the Rummage Bin line.  Inchies are a really fun concept to play with and I love it that this set is designed especially for that. You don’t have to stamp them on inchies though if you’re inspired otherwise. I used the dream stamp at various places on my background for a unique look.

Quick Tip: Watercolor paper makes ALL the difference when using this medium

Wishing you a wonderful start to your week!
