Where do the days go?! I had meant to upload this layout with all the details last week but the time just got away from me! The joys of kids home for the summer, having to replace a vehicle and now a sick kid with a fever and rash….sigh…off we go to the Dr. today.
This layout was born of a few ideas…first of all I wanted to make it for my daughter, secondly…I was playing around with a Jessica Sprague book, Computer Tricks for Scrapbookers 2 and loved the idea of burning out a photo on top of digital paper. The dragonfly paper actually runs under my photo and in real life, you can see the faint dragonflies and texture of the paper through the photo. Thirdly…this layout was partially started but I needed some inspiration. I came across the Ultimate Summer Challenges at Scrapbooks Etc. The Altered Embellishment challenge really caught my eye. After all…I DO love my embellies and I DO love to alter. Most of all…this layout is for me…the sheer joy of creating it.

Soooooooooo….here’s the close-ups and the rest of the details…
I started off with this beautiful Prima paper. So gorgeous I hated to cover it up! One of my favorite areas of the paper is the flourishes and bird. I pulled out my Sakura Glue Pen and when over small areas of the pattern at a time, applying glitter before it dried and then moving on to another section.
The most of my embellishing is clustered together in the bottom left on top of my digital printed paper. I first adhered my Melissa Frances lace and then added my flourish. The Maya Road flourish was painted with Worn Lipstick Distress Crackle paint before stamping with my Spanish Script Backgrounder from Cornish Heritage Farms. The Prima Flowers were also stamped with this script and the centers are rhinestone stickers. I’ve been having fun lately creating my own stickpin embellishments. This one was created using a pin found in Michael’s beading section and then threaded with beads. I kept my journaling very simple on this design. I simply stamped words from the Sassy Petites set onto cardstock and cut them out.
Bottom right I added another little altered embellishment. I picked up a package of Tim Holtz Fragments a couple months ago and they are so fun to use. For this one, I stamped Wish Big from Classic Essential Expressions in Black Stazon. I also cut off a little velvet flower from some Prima ribbon and added another rhinestone. On the reverse, I adhered a scrap of coordinating paper with Ranger Glossy Accents.
Finally…top right. A little strip of Doodlebug Designs scalloped paper tops my photo. The title Imagine is stamped and some rhinestones connect the eye to my altered butterfly. The buttefly is a Scenic Paper Route Co. chipboard piece that has been painted, inked and stamped before coating with Ranger Crackle Accents.
