Simply Saturday…

If last week was a card themed week here, then this week must have been Zvalicious. I am in the mood for bling, bling, bling. I have absolutely no reason for this as I tend to work ahead and then post as I get the time. I just ended up with four Zva Creative projects all in a row.

Today is Saturday and I like to keep things simple.

Here’s a simple sentiment that I just love.

As you can see, the Zva crystal adhere really well to other products besides paper. I used some fun sticky back cork that I picked up at a scrapbooking garage sale months ago. Cork is fun! It even takes color well! I’ve colored in the heart shape in the sentiment with a pink Copic marker just to highlight it a bit.

Have a {love}ly day!

4 star day

Did you think I’d had enough of summer layouts for awhile?

You thought wrong.

It’s my favorite time of year and I scrap it all seasons.

We try to make the best of all the seasons too. This week is Canadian Thanksgiving and the weather is gorgeous. I’m so glad that “Indian Summer” showed up in time for us to enjoy three beautiful days of it! We’re determined to enjoy every last minute of it and hopefully spend lots of them out on the water.

4 star day

I’ve been waiting for months for the October Afternoon Seaside line and was so excited to finally get my hands on some! Pairing it up with these beautiful Zva Creative Crystal stars was so much fun and tied in the title too. Who says you can’t use bling for boys?

Supplies: Crystal Stars CRS02CB113 and  Red Corduroy Brad BR01CB104 by Zva Creative, cardstock by Bazzill, Seaside patterned paper, Wild Cards & Word stickers by October Afternoon, chipboard by Pink Paislee, sewing machine, Red Felt Thickers by American Crafts, dymo label maker, Kraft Ticket by Maya Road

Have a wonderful weekend!

Tissue Paper Flowers

The other day a package arrived in the mail with some lovely white tissue paper in it. It was wrapped around some scrapbooking supplies and my mind started to whirl. I just knew it could be reused for something crafty instead of throwing it away.

After taking it down to my craft room, I decided to try die cutting it with my ultra favorite die, the Tim Holtz Tattered Florals Die by Sizzix. Love, love, love this die. Judging by the amount of projects I’ve used it on, I’m sure you’re getting that idea. I’m quite tickled with how it turned out.

What do you do with tissue paper? There are a lot of cool ideas and stamping techniques. Today’s challenge is Ways to Use Tissue Paper and I hope you’ll join us for some creative fun.  Check out the challenge details here.

While this card is simple, it uses lots of my favorite things. The beautiful crystals and pearl brad are from Zva Creative and the gorgeous background stamps from Hero Arts. To highlight the curve of the crystal flourish, I bent my sentiment stamp before applying to the acrylic block.

Supplies: white cardstock by Bazzill, crystal flourish CRS02CB107 and pearl brad BRBK02CA103 by Zva Creative, tissue paper, Leaf Trinket Pins by Maya Road, twine, Woodgrain Pattern, Friend Defintion Cling stamp & Everyday Sayings Clear Stamp set by Hero Arts, Tattered Florals Die by Sizzix, Glimmer Mist by Tattered Angels.

Happy creating!

flowers & crystals

I am in love with the summer Zva Creative releases. The crystal embellishments are so beautiful and unique. One of my favorites in this new leaf flourish. It’s perfect for card size or layout size and I wish I could put one of almost every project.

Believe

The clear crystals on this flourish look beautifully iridescent when the light hits it. You can catch a little glimmer of the subtle color in the below photo.

Quick Tip: Cut the stems off the Zva flowers for a different look. It’s easy to adhere them onto the crystal flourish for a floral spray look. I’ve used glue dots here but a strong liquid adhesive would work great as well.

September Zva Blog Hop Winners announced

We’d like to congratulate the five September Zva Blog Hop winners! Their names will be found on the following blogs:

Kim Hughes
Julianne McKenna-De Lumen

Wendy McKee
Benedicte Raphalen
Lisa Johnson

One winner from each of the 5 blogs will receive a Zva prize package worth $30.00. Congrats winners!

I have another Zva Creative design to share with you today. I’m just in love with the new Zva releases and couldn’t wait to create with these lovely leaf crystal embellishments CRS03CB112.

One of the leaves is placed right onto my cardstock and the other onto a piece of vellum. The vellum was then trimmed around the leaf shape. On the reverse, I colored the vellum leaft with red and orange dye based markers and blended in the ink for a lovely subtle effect.

I love texture, especially on autumn cards and I’m quite addicted to using the sweet canvas brads BR01CB110 from Zva.

Zva Creative September DT Blog Hop!

The Zva Designers are joining together again today to share a project that we have created using some of our favorite Zva Creative products. I am hoping that you will take some time to join us for a little bit of fun again this month!

The Blog Hop begins at Kim Hughes’ blog. She will have the complete list of all blogs that are participating incase there is a glitch along the way. If you would like to play along, I am linking to one of the Zva designers and that designer is linking to the next and so on. Be prepared to be inspired along the way. Hidden on 5 of the blogs is a Zva Creative prize package …YAY! Those blogs will be randomly chosen after the hop is over, so it’s important to leave a comment on as many blogs as you can along the way.

The Blog Hop starts now and runs through midnight US Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday, September 28th and the 5 winners will be announced on Wednesday, September 29th on each of the five winning blogs. The full list will be found on Kim Hughes‘s blog as well (linked above). We will
do our best to notify each winner, but it’s best if you can pop in to all of the blogs once again on Wednesday…plus, you never know what kind of inspirational creation that you may find there. All you need to do is leave a comment on this Zva Blog Hop post…you do not need to leave a comment on each and every designer’s blog post to qualify. The more times you leave a comment along the blog hop path though, the more chances you will have to be one of the lucky winners.

Simply Delightful

simply delightful layout

One of my absolute favorite Zva Creative products is these big & beautiful crystal brackets CRB02CB109. I love how trendy but timeless they are and how well they tie a layout design together. When the bling is this pretty, I like keeping the rest of the design simple to make it the focus. I do have one other Zva product on the page though…that pretty brown corduroy brad BR01CB105 in the flower center works with the brown accents in the patterned paper.

During the summer we took a mini vacation with a family that we are close friends with. I couldn’t resist taking this shot of my friend’s daughter sitting on the pier with the sun shining through her hair. I like to make layouts for special people and this one is for her.

The gorgeous patterned paper is from the Wishful line by Fancy Pants Designs. I’ve cut it up in strips and stitched it for a clean and sweet layout. My flowers are hand made using the Tattered Florals Die. One is die cut from the Fancy Pants paper and the other from some canvas I had on hand from the fabric store. The fabric on is spritzed with Viva Pink Glimmer Mist.

Thank you SO MUCH for joining us ,

girl friend

It’s funny how you can become such good friends with someone before you even meet them. These days of technology make it possible to meet people that you never would have met before.

I first “met” Becky while working for a stamp company and we immediately became good friends. The kind that talk often on the phone and support each other, encourage each other through burnout and changes, the kind who give their honest opinion even when it’s hard to say and share in your excitement when something good comes your way.

After a couple years of friendship, I was ecstatic to finally meet Becky Olsen in person last May in Buffalo. I was so excited and we had the best 24 hours of fun. We had to hit Starbucks a couple times while we were there and here’s one of the photos I took. I’ve been meaning to get it scrapped for some time and found this fun Fancy Pants Designs paper worked perfectly. Don’t you love the vibrant colors of these papers?

girl-friend.jpg

The layout for this page was inspired by another Creative Scrappers Sketch, sketch #122. I hope you’ll join us for some more inspiration and play create along with the sketch challenge here. This is my last layout for Creative Scrappers. What a fun, inspiring and wonderful team to be on. The sketches are fabulous and inspired me to try out new things. I would have loved to have applied for another term but want to focus more time on my creative goals. I hope to find lots of time this fall to keep up with the sketches and continue to play along as I can. Thanks so much Kristine for the wonderful opportunity. I wish you and your site the best and congrats to the fabulous new design team.

Quick Tip:  Sand paper over cardboard. This sanded textured happened by accident. I decided to sand some of my black patterned paper to add dimension and interest. I just happened to have a piece of corrugated cardboard underneath as a work-surface and ended up with this very fun sanded texture.

Supplies:  About a Girl paper line by Fancy Pants Design, felt flowers, Black Flourish CRB03CA114 and individual rhinestones by Zva Creative, embroidery thread, felt die cut frame, flowers & joy canvas button by Prima, ric rak, Tiny Attacher by Advantus, Round Tag Punch by Stampin Up, White Opaque Pen by Ranger, Binding Edge Punch by EK Success, Thickers by American Crafts

Happy creating and have a wonderful week!
