Back to Stitching

It’s the first full week back to school. I have a lot of plans.

Get caught up on…

  • assignments
  • housework
  • errands
  • get sewing again

I’m actually looking forward to them all but getting back to sewing really sounds great to me. There is a lot of fabric stashed away just waiting for my needle. I thought it would be fun to create a card using quilting squares I picked up at a local quilting shop. The fabric is by Moda and paired together with some fun sewing themed patterned paper, makes a unique card.

Every feminine card needs a bit of bling, right? The Zva Creative crystals and pearls were a great embellishment.

If you’re familiar with Zva product, you’ll know that their product line doesn’t include purple. The beautiful pearl flower accents were originally white and came as part of the butterfly set PES03CA101 from this post. Zva crystals and pearls are so easy to alter and customize with the Copic Airbrush System.  Just spray with your marker and airbrush attachment. It only takes seconds and about a minute to dry.

smooches

Putting your favorite photos into a layout is a wonderful way to share them with others. I’m lucky that a couple of my kids like to ham it up for the camera. On the lake a couple weeks ago my little guy was pretending to not want a kiss from his older sister. We had a great laugh &  I thought the expressions were priceless.

This layout was designed using this week’s Creative Scrapper’s sketch, #120 which was super fun to create with. The paper and chipboard is Cosmo Cricket and I’ve embellished it with lots of goodies from Zva Creative. I placed the crystal frame over both photos to tie them together visually and highlight the faces.

Quick Tip: Substitute chipboard clouds and felt flowers for the circles in the sketch.

I just love how elegant these pearl butterflies are. They come in three sections making them so easy to place exactly where you want them. There’s also a pretty little bouquet of Zva Creative flowers.

Quick Tip: To distress the flowers and make them look shabby, sand them with  a little sandpaper.

Supplies: kraft cardstock by Bazzill, yellow hem tape, White Pigment Ink by Clearsnap, twine, flowers FLBK03CB102 & pearl butterflies PES03CA101 by Zva Creative, Sepia Archival Ink by Ranger, stamp by Hero Arts

Zva Creative August DT Blog Hop!

The Zva Designers are joining together today to share a project that we have created using some of our favorite Zva Creative  products. I am hoping that you will take some time to join us for a little bit of fun again this month!

The Blog Hop begins at Kim Hughes’ blog.  She will have the complete list of all blogs that are participating in case there is a glitch along the way. If you would like to play along, I am linking to one of the Zva designers and that designer is linking to the next and so on. Be prepared to be inspired along the way. Hidden on 5 of the blogs is a Zva Creative prize package …YAY! Those blogs will be randomly chosen after the hop is over, so it’s important to leave a comment on as many blogs as you can along the way.

The Blog Hop starts now and runs through midnight US Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday, August 31st and the 5 winners will be announced on Wednesday, September 1st on each of the five winning blogs. The full list will be found on Kim Hughes‘s blog as well (linked above). We will do our best to notify each winner, but it’s best if you can pop in to all of the blogs once again on Wednesday…plus, you never know what kind of inspirational creation that you may find there. All you need to do is leave a comment on this Zva Blog Hop post…you do not need to leave a comment on each and every designer’s blog post to qualify. The more times you leave a comment along the blog hop path though, the more chances you will have to be one of the lucky winners.

Today I have a couple Zva Creative designs to share that keep the beautiful embellishments the main focus of the design.

bridal elegance

Summer is the season for weddings and recently I needed a shower gift and card. I decided to go with a simple and elegant style using very little product. Sometimes a little goes a long way.

If you use beautiful embellishments, why not make them the main attraction on the card. They can get lost in an over-the-top design. In this design I’ve used two beautiful Zva Creative embellishments along with a rub-on and a plain white cardstock card.

Take care,

simply saturday… simply happy

It’s summer.

It’s Saturday.

I’m simply happy.

you-make-me-happy.jpg

Don’t you love gingham? This sweet card uses gingham patterned paper from Jillibean Soup and Echo Park. The sweet felt flowers (FL01CB114 & FL01CB115) are from Zva Creative as are the beautiful single crystals CR01CB101 that are the flower centers.

Quick Tip: the green Echo Park gingham comes on the diagonal. Isn’t it a fun look? You can cut regular gingham or plaid on a 45° angle to create your own.

Have a simply wonderful day…

sweet sunshine

you are my sunshine,

my only sunshine,
