a little togetherness

Every time I make a tag I mentally kick myself and wonder why I don’t make more of them. They are just so quick and fun! Even better, they use up all those little scraps I have laying around my desk.

I am hereby challenging myself to make more of them. Tie one on a little kraft gift bag and you’re good to go.

Togetherness Tag

This sweet little tag uses up some Togetherness scraps on my desk. Don’t you love these muted Cosmo Cricket colors? What I really like about this tag is the die cut paper rosette. It’s a Tim Holtz Sizzlets die. I’d held off on buying it as I didn’t think it would work in my Cuttlebug. As you can tell I broke down and gave it a whirl. You have to run it through part way and the die cut it the other as the die is long but it DOES work with a little finesse. Of course if you’re lucky enough to have a Big Shot, you’re all set. I had a great scrapbooking garage sale the other day and have a lovely credit at my local store. I’ve purchased some new Copic markers with it but I think I’m going back for that Big Shot too.

Quick Tip: Use a strong dry adhesive such as Wonder Tape by Ranger or Be Creative Tape to hold this rosette together.

What I love most about this project is the hit of green. I never would have used this bright green a few years ago but now it looks oh so fresh and fun. I love how color styles change breathing new life into the spectrum of things.

Love a sale? Ellen has a fabulous Warehouse Sale going on right now. Enjoy!

Have a sweet day!

Boo!

Do you love decorating for the season?

How about a fun Halloween Banner that can be restrung from year to year?

I had an absolute blast creating this Boo Banner for the CLASSroom. As this is my first project after not creating for two weeks, I’m not sure if it’s the fun details or the fact that I’m creating again that has me so thrilled with this project.

A little masking, stamping, glitter, collage, paint and some fun goodies all mix together for this large banner. I know the above photo is small (click to enlarge if you wish) but each pennant is 5″x7″ in size and makes a great wall hanging.

I hope you’ll join me today here in the CLASSroom for some fun techniques, lots of closeups and design details.

Thanks for dropping in!

Paper Crafts Fall

I can’t believe how quickly the days fly by. We’ve finally got into the hang of a new school year routine. My daughter has started her highschool co-op program at the hospital and I’m busy being the stay at home mom who is rarely home but rather being chauffeur.

Today I thought I’d share one of my paper craft projects that was published in the September/October issue of Paper Crafts Magazine.

I’ve used some fun October Afternoon papers to create this mini card and gift box. Just the box is in the magazine issue but I thought I’d share both here in case it inspired someone.

Another of my projects can be found as an on-line bonus project here.

Quick Tip: Mini projects are fast and cute and make great gifts when you are pressed for time.

Have a beautiful day!

I have another Zva Creative project to share with you today. It’s an altered frame project that I’ve created for a challenge at Splitcoaststampers.com Each year the SCS Dirty Dozen Design Team and Alumni host a fun week of challenges for the Fan Club Members. Fan Club Members help support the site and this is our way of saying thank you. I was thrilled to be part of the Dirty Dozen in 2006/2007.  Creating a sample for one of today’s challenges was a great way to have some stamping fun.Want to learn more about the Fan Club and challenges. You can find the details here.

Wow. A paperless project from me.  Pretty rare, huh? Pulling out my Claudine Hellmuth Studio Paints and getting messy was a lot of fun. To get this very old layered look, I kept brushing on layers of paint until I got the look I wanted. I worked wet in wet to blend the paints. I wanted to get the look of old furniture that has been painted time and time again and has bits of color coming through.

After I had the look I wanted, I stamped the surface with the Hero Arts Circle Lace Doily stamp. Instead of stamping with ink, I brushed the rubber with Blank Canvas Studio Paint and then stamped randomly on my frame.

I’ve used two pieces of the Zva Creative Clear Swirl Frame CR01CB116 here to embellish the top corner of my project. The silk ribbon rose is handmade and I’ll have a tutorial for you on Friday for it.

doily-crackle-detail.jpg

Sorry about the poor quality of this shot but it was the one that show the crackled surface best. As a final step to make this project look vintage, I brushed the entire surface with a thick coat of Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint. I love finished surface. The love is spelled out with some more Zva bling…the Alpha Page Crystal Clear Crystals CRB02BC111.

Happy Canada Day

Yay for Canada Day! I’m a very proud Canadian and Canada Day is one of my favorite days of the year. What’s not to like about a day to celebrate a wonderful country and spend a warm sunny day eating BBQ with family and friends?

I thought it would be appropriate to share a fun project I created last year for Crafts ‘n Things magazine.

While I’m off having fun, Cindy is stepping in to host today’s WT challenge. Thanks Cindy! If you’re in the crafting mood,  play along here.

In honour of Canada Day, I’m off to the beach to turn my very white self, a little red in the beautiful sunshine. (don’t worry! I promise to wear my sunscreen!)

Have a safe and wonderful Canada Day!
