stars and stripes

I’m a Canadian girl, through and through.

OK. So you’re probably doing a double-take with today’s project then, right?

Well this project is inspired by the new beautiful Maya Road Star Bottlecaps and I thought I’d jump outside the box and create a set of vintage style canvases for my American friends.

I hope you like them and I hope I got the look right! 🙂

Today I’m in the CLASSroom with the tutorial and step outs on how to create this mini canvas set. I hope you’ll join me here.

Have a fabulous weekend!

Frosted Glass…a technique

Frosted glass is such a great look.It reminds me of sea glass and is just so pretty. The translucence makes for such a dreamy element.

Did you know you can get a frosted glass look using acrylic embellishments and some simple stamping? Join me today in the CLASSroom as I share step outs and a tutorial on this technique. It’s a very cool look for you to try as temperatures rise outdoors.

Have a fabulous weekend!

Classic Stamping

This morning I was feeling a little nostalgic and decided to turn my creativity to some classic stamping. A few years ago, I was quite addicted to stamping challenges as they are such a great way to jump start your creativity. Checking out the daily challenges at Splitcoaststampers.com was something I used to do daily but in the craziness of life, it’s been a very long time since I’ve done that.

Tuesday’s are color challenge day there and once I saw the color combo, I knew I’d find some time to play along. You can find it here if you’re interested in playing along.

One of the stamps that I’ve been wanting to use worked perfectly with today’s color challenge. It was easy to ink up with a couple dye markers, the yellow is a distress ink marker in Mustard Seed and the leaves are a Stampin Up marker, Certainly Celery. This stamp makes a beautiful focal image but it always looks lovely as a background. Did you notice I’d stamped it again tone on tone on the colored cardstock?

Supplies: Pool Party Cardstock and Dye Ink, Certainly Celery Marker by Stamping Up, also…

Happy stamping!

seamless stamping

Layers, layers, layers. I love layers when I design.

Ever tried getting seamless stamped layers for an elegant card design? It’s an easy technique that makes a really interesting card design. Today I’m in the CLASSroom sharing how to create seamless tiers on your card designs. I hope you’ll join me for the tutorial and step outs!

Have a fabulous weekend and happy Memorial Day to my American friends!

fun & funky

A fun little random post today. I’m up to my eyeballs in work right now but I hate having too many days go by without saying hello. We had a wonderful long weekend with my family this past weekend. It feels like summer has finally arrived and we made the most of it. Of course you always pay for a long weekend and this has been one of my busiest weeks in a long time. I’ve created lots of fun projects for a later date though so it’s all good.

I’m sure you can tell that this is another one of my random-clean-up-the-desk cards. I am currently addicted to Crafter’s Workshop templates. They are so fabulous for misting backgrounds and this dot template is a classic for sure.

Here’s a closeup of the random mix and match of goodies…rub-ons, old denim jeans, bingo numbers, stamping, twine, die cuts and chipboard.

Quick Tip: By keeping the elements all clustered together it adds cohesiveness to the design.

i {heart} gingham

Gingham is such a classic. I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of it.

Today I’ve paired up lots of gingham for a sweet baby card design.

Look closely! Did you notice it all lines up seamlessly? I love that.

Why not join me today in the CLASSroom for the tutorial and instructions?

Have a wonderful weekend!

Cheery Chevrons

Pink and Orange just may be one of my very favorite color combos. It’s such a pretty pop of color and a great way to start off a Monday morning.

I’ve been quite addicted to the Ranger Distress Stains lately and here’s another card that features them. This time I’ve inked up a Hero Arts chevron background stamp with two colors of stain for a multi-hued look.

The sentiment stamp is also from Hero Arts. A couple of the Memento Inks match up perfectly with the Worn Lipstick and Dried Marigold Distress Stains. I’ve used the inks to stamp the sentiment twice. Using the ink gives a crisper image so that you can easily read the sentiment. The image that I stamped in orange was used to punch out the flower accents to add a little pop and dimension.
