I’ve been tagged!

LOL I’ve been tagged three times (Lisa Johnson, Lindsey Botkin, Mary Duffek) in the past 24 hours so I guess I need to stop and play along! Fun! Although…I’m not quite sure what I’m going to say! I’m never good at these things! I can never think of anything exciting! But….I’ll try! πŸ™‚

Here’s the deal…

Instructions:
1. Link to the person that tagged you and post the rules on your blog.
2. Share 7 random and/or weird facts about yourself (on your blog, we all want to know them).
3. Tag 7 random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs.
4. Let each person know that they’ve been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

Random things about me… (try not to fall asleep πŸ˜‰

1. I love to read. Books, books and more books! I’ve had to really cut back though to focus on my stamping. I used to read minimum one book a week.

2. I like being organized but alas…I fail miserably.

3. Unless under a deadline, I usually design two projects a day. I have a small corner of the family that is always overflowing with paper and goodies.

4. I love wearing skirts and do so almost every day. I have about 4x as many skirts as I do pairs of pants.

5. My favorite subjects in High School were Art, Math and Drafting.

6. I love chocolate. Favorite Dessert:Chocolate Cheesecake, Favorite Ice Cream: Chocolate Mousse Royale from Baskin Robbins, Favorite Chocolate Bar: Cadbury’s Flake (from Britain)

7. I’m a morning person. I like to get up early and my most productive time is in the morning.

I’m tagging these talented people… I’ve tried to find bloggers who haven’t already been tagged. If you haven’t been tagged and would like to play…feel free to consider yourself tagged as well! πŸ™‚

My New Stamp Room

I just had to share this photo of my new stamp room in the making. LOL I KNOW it is going to take a little time to get there! I’ve had people ask me for photos of my stamp room but…the sad truth is, I just don’t have one yet! I design in a very messy corner of our family room on one little desk. Where do I store the supplies?! On the desk, under the desk, on the floor, in cupboards…wherever I can find an inch! And so…it really WOULD break my camera to try and take a pic… especially after how busy I have been lately!

And so…. this “lovely” photo is of my new stamping space. See that lovely hole in the ground…it extends right under my kitchen and what used to be part of my wrap-around porch. I just can’t wait…another bedroom for one of the boys, a bathroom, a storage closet and a small 8×8 foot room for me. Can you see the area right where the concrete blocks are…that’s it! πŸ™‚ Be it ever so humble, I still Can’t wait! I’m just not enjoying the process but hey…when you buy a century old house…what can you expect?! Tomorrow those blocks are going to start forming the basement addition walls. I’ve got the bestest hubby in the world for tackling this job! Don’t you think? πŸ™‚ He’s been putting 30-40 hours a week in on this job on top of his 44 hour week. Stay tuned for more updates! I’m sure that from here…it is only going to get better!

A Quick Note…

I’ve had two readers e-mail me looking for the Flourishes Flourished Christmas set. Wow it is gorgeous! One of my faves of the season. It seems that lots of other stampers have felt the same way! GSMTA! πŸ˜‰ (for those of you who haven’t heard of it…Great Stamping Minds Think Alike! LOL ) And so…as of the current time, you won’t find it on their web-site. I talked to Jan today and she says that hopefully the set will be back in stock next week. So, if you want this set, don’t despair…just keep checking! πŸ™‚

And the winner is….

Thanks so much to all of you who took part in my Gina K Make a Wish blog prize entries. WOW! I was so inspired reading all the wonderful things you all were doing! So many people going through hard times too. Sometimes it is so easy to feel so alone in it…I’m sure all the wonderful things that everyone was doing to help out, make someone’s day or just showing you cared really made a difference. I wish I could give you all the stamp set. You are ALL winners. Unfortunately…I only have one. And so, I used the www.random.org number generator to pick a winner. The winning number was number 46… Catherine. Congratulations Catherine! Please e-mail me with your address and I’ll get this in the mail for you as soon as I can! Catherine wrote…

HAPPY 18 ANNIVERSARY :D! The nice thing that I did today, was make a meal that would last my parents a few meals and so my mom could focus on getting some rest and getting my father back up on his feet. Thanksgiving weekend my dad had a heart attack, one of his arteries on the back of his heart was clogged 99% and so he had a balloon thing done and also a stint put in. He is at home recovering, but felt they needed help in terms of meals :)!
Thanks for this chance at a great stamp set :), have a super day :)!

I wish you all a great evening! It has been another one of those days! A car had to be dropped off at the garage this morning, some major details sorted out pertaining to the renovation. I’m so excited that my stamping room is back on plan for this addition. It had been relegated to addition phase two but now what was going to be storage is now big enough to hold a small 8×8 foot space. It will be in the new basement but….it will be ALL MINE! So I’m pretty excited!

Pinkalicious!

Pink! Today’s color challenge in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month was to use pink. And use it I did! Lots and lots of pink! I was pretty excited with this challenge because it worked perfectly with the design and blog post I wanted to do today! I wanted to one…make this little gift set for my Mother-in-law and two….tell you about a cool card auction with the full proceeds from this auction will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation to further research toward a cure. And so…..

I’ll tell you about the auction first. The My Favorite Things Stamps Design Team wanted to do something special this year to help raise money for Breast Cancer research. Kim released the darling Think Pink stamp set with proceeds going to the same foundation. We decided to do our part too. πŸ™‚ Eighteen original hand crafted and signed cards with envelopes by the My Favorite Things designers are up for bid on eBay. I’m so excited to be part of this and can’t wait to see how much money is raised for this great cause. And so… you really need to check it out…

Think Pink Set

jks-think-pink-set.jpg

I picked up these three little white post-it note pads at my local Business Depot store. The have a pink bottom band and on the pads, is printed a pink ribbon. I thought of my Mother-in-law and thought she would appreciate having them. She just finished radiation therapy at the end of August and I decided to make this into a little gift set for her.

Lots of pink today for this pink challenge so I went searching for some of my favorite Baby Girl Daisy D’s paper. To make a band to go around the three pads, I stitched the striped pink paper to my Pretty in Pink cardstock. Some wide satin May Arts ribbon wraps around the band and ties on a darling little tag. I decorated my tag punched tag with a pretty Prima flower that is set with a brad holding a pink gingham awareness ribbon.

For my matching mini card, I once again stitched on a Daisy D’s paper layer and stamped a ribbon heart and Believe from my Think Pink stamp set. Also using the set to create an image, I colored it in with my Copic markers, matted it and adhere to my design. I got some new Making Memories goodies in the mail today. A darling little flower brad decorates the top left corner of the design. Very simple, very pink and oh so cute. Hope it is OK to say that. I hope she likes it as much as I do. πŸ™‚

I’m hoping to work on a few designs I have in the works for upcoming projects and I’m also off to Apple Land this morning with the kids. Apples and squash to get ready for Thanksgiving on Monday. πŸ™‚ The renovation here is also in full swing and yikes! What a mess! This is a HUGE job. My hubby is the best to take this on!

In keeping with my Simply Saturday theme, I thought I’d share this Boho Blossoms design with you.

Boho Friendship

jks-boho-blossoms-friendship.jpg

As you know, I just adore this Boho Blossoms stamp set. What a gorgeous flower! I decided to keep my design simple and monochromatic to highlight its beauty. The flower was stamped three times in versamark in and then embossed with black Stampendous embossing powder. Wow! It is gorgeous in person. I also quickly stamped the friendship script sentiment onto the panel and that was it.

After adhering my panel to the card front, I pulled out my Making Memories textured tape. I tell you, I have gotten a LOT of mileage from this one little package of tape…..absolutely love it! I applied one strip of dotted tape above the stamped panel and one strip of the white paisley tape below for a quick, fun design. I decided to echo the dotted shapes of the top to the bottom of the design and added a row of paper piercing just below the tape. You can see how the light shines through the holes a little in the pic.

For my quick finishing touch, another one of my new favorite goodies, Making Memories Sweets. They are epoxy covered chipboard and are oh so cute! I tied mine with black gingham ribbon from Michael’s and adhered it to the design with a glue dot. Simple, simple, simple. But so much fun! πŸ™‚
