What’s in a word….

A few days ago…my friend Lisa Strahl challenged us to come up with a word that we felt would be significant in our lives this year. Ali Edwards has been doing this for a few years and seems to have kicked off quite a trend. I decided I would try and come up with something but it wasn’t as easy as I had thought! So many thoughts came through my mind. So many goals but my thoughts were quite difficult to distill into one single word. LOL Who would have thought it would take two days of thinking!? And so….finally….here it is…

My word for 2008 is {Embrace}

em·brace (m-brs)
v. em·braced, em·brac·ing, em·brac·es
v.tr.
1. To clasp or hold close with the arms, usually as an expression of affection.
2.
a. To surround; enclose: We allowed the warm water to embrace us.
b. To twine around: a trellis that was embraced by vines.
3. To include as part of something broader.

4. To take up willingly or eagerly: embrace a social cause.
5. To avail oneself of: “I only regret, in my chilled age, certain occasions and possibilities I didn’t embrace” Henry James.
v.intr.
To join in an embrace.
n.
1. An act of holding close with the arms, usually as an expression of affection; a hug.
2. An enclosure or encirclement: caught in the jungle’s embrace.
3. Eager acceptance

What do I mean?

This year I…

  • Want to embrace the opportunities the past past year has brought and enjoy every minute of them while continuing to grow….my new position at CHF and my freelance publication work
  • embrace creativity and new ideas, styles, techniques
  • embrace my family and husband with the love and attention they deserve
  • embrace friendships old and new
  • embrace each moment with joy…no more sweating the small stuff
  • and last but not least…embrace my relationship with God

And so…in turn, I’d like to challenge you. 🙂 Pick a word for 2008 and over then next year…see how much it inspires you.

We Wish You a Merry Christmas…a little elfing fun

We wish you a merry Christmas. We wish you a Merry Christmas. We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I’m in the middle of our second MAJOR snowstorm of the season. I’ve heard it is supposed to be a wild winter. I can’t go anywhere but I’m having fun getting some more things crossed off my list.

A friend first sent me a darling link to this elfing site a few weeks ago. She had put a few faces together from a design team and it was so much fun. I giggled and giggled and giggled! I knew I just had to try it out for myself and so Saturday…I finally took a little time (I know I have a million other things to do!) to have a little fun. Four spaces worked perfectly for me to add a few more elves to Santa’s mix. Check it out. 😉 Just a little holiday fun from Lindsey, Michele, Trudee and myself…

Elf Yourself

Have a great day! Only just over a week until Christmas! Are you all ready for it or are you like me…lots more to do!:)

Computers….

Oh how I hate them! LOL Well I like them when they are working but right now…..hmmmmmm……

I seem to have an inordinate amount of trouble with mine! Did you know that in French a computer is called L’ordinateur ……hmmmmmmmm those words sound very much alike.I finally got hold of a laptop so I’m quickly catching up on a few quick things and stopping in to say hi. I was so glad that I finished my Craft Critique article yesterday afternoon so it was all set to go today there. If you’re looking for a fun holiday project…check it out at…

A Merry Little Christmas Frame 🙂

The Ways to Use it challenge went ahead without me today. Thanks to Dawn for quickly stepping in and posting it for me. I still have my card ready to roll….I guess it will have to wait for a little while yet. I’m hoping to get time to upload it tomorrow. I believe the challenge is metallic cardstock…so if you like a fun look for the holidays…make sure you stop by the challenge forum on www.splitcoaststampers.com and check it out.

Have a great night! Hope to get things fixed up and be back soon! hugs!!!

Better Mark this Down…

Lots of fun things going on this weekend and you really need to mark it down so you don’t forget! 🙂 Cornish Heritage Farms is having a new release of sixteen backgrounders that you are not going to want to miss. They are all fabulous! And guess who the designer of these backgrounders is? Lisa Strahl, who is also celebrating her 30th birthday on Saturday December the first. Happy, happy birthday Lisa!

Now we couldn’t let Lisa’s Big 3 – 0 go by without a party….so we’re going to party all day Saturday December the first  in the Cornish Heritage Farms forums and gallery. You’re invited! We want you to join us for the fun. After all…the more the merrier, right. We’ve been super busy planning a fun time full of challenges, prizes, games, chat … you name it. 🙂 The party starts at 10 am EST and the last challenge will be posted at 10 pm EST so there will be lots going on right up until 11.

Until then…check out Mona Lisa Moments. Lisa has been busy cooking up THIRTY projects using the new backgrounders in honor of her birthday. Some of them are up already and some more will be added over the next couple days. I was lucky enough to get a sneak peek…you won’t want to miss them! 🙂

Have a great day!

A Sunday Post…update and link…

I’d love to share a {C’est Bon} entry with you today but the sad truth is…all the pics are on my own computer which is down. Rather than start again, I’m just going to wait until I can actually access it. We have a friend coming to look at it tomorrow for me…until then, I’m trying with limited success to claim my teenagers new laptop. After all the years I’ve allowed him to use my computer…you’d think he’d be more than happy to hand over his brand-new laptop…don’t you think? 😉

So……I just HAD to pop in and say hello and also give you a link to take a peek at. I know you couldn’t live for a day without me 😉 and I know you just don’t want to miss this blog link. In fact, if you have any taste at all, I’m sure you already read Joan daily as your second blog of the day. Right after mine of course. And finally…those snow pics! 🙂 Please bear in mind it was VERY difficult to get two very excited boys to stay still long enough for a photo! LOL That and the fact that fogged up bi-focals on a 5 yo are tricky as well. As you can see…they are having a blast! They wanted to stay out all morning. So much for stamping today…but these moments are precious and work can wait, right? 🙂
