school days

Since I’m getting back to scrapping, I thought it should be time to get around to scrapbooking some of the back to school photos.I know it’s not exactly the season of the year that you usually do this but better late than never, right? The first layout is one of my 30 in 30 layouts and the last I just did the other day.

Have you been putting off creating something you’ve been meaning to do? These cold winter days are the perfect time to do it!

Ready or Not

I had a lot of fun creating this sweet layout of my “baby’s” first day of school.  He’s number five so it was a while in coming but he was more ready than I.

Quick Tip: Change up the colors or fonts in your title letters to add interest or highlight a portion of it.

Supply List: Boyfriend patterned paper by Cosmo Cricket, chipboard by Bo Bunny, rub-ons by Pink Paislee, Stickers and Wild Card by October Afternoon, Edge Punch by EK Success, twine, Adage Tickets by Advantus

This layout uses some sweet papers by Lily Bee, cut into strips and then stitched together. I had fun incorporating the sweet tree image from the far left paper into a design accent by recreating it with ribbon and buttons.

Quick Tip: Adhere your paper strips onto a piece of scrap paper and then adhere and stitch. Trim edges neatly and then zig zag stitch to cardstock base.

Have a great weekend!

Stuck on You

Time for one last adhesive tutorial in the CLASSroom today. This time for my stuck on you theme, I’ve paired up some fun ways to apply glitter with a layout on how I’m still stuck on my guy. Here’s the tutorial with step outs.

scrap happy

As you know, I’ve been having fun getting back into scrapbooking.Today I have a couple layouts to share that are based on the past two weeks sketches from Creative Scrappers. I’m loving their sketches and they are a great jumping off point. I’ve always loved working from a sketch. Most sketches will work with any style and I’m having fun exploring new ideas.

Sweet 17

Supplies: patterned paper by K & Co. , chipboard by Basic Grey, butterflies by Heidi Swapp

Quick Tip: Add journaling lines with stitching. I learned this trick from my good friend Becky Olsen.

With Grace

This is the latest sketch, sketch 92. I just had to have this month’s Jenni Bowlin kit and it arrived in my mailbox yesterday morning. An hour later I had this layout. The vintage dictionary sheet is masked and then sponged with Worn Lipstick Distress ink. It’s actually the same mask I used for yesterday’s card. The vintage product is all Jenni Bowlin and this month the paper I used was new Studio Calico and rub-ons.

 Have a beautiful day!

I did it

30 days, 30 layouts ends today. And I did it! I was getting a little nervous there for a while when I got a little behind, but I pulled up my socks and finished on time. I’ll be sharing them over the next little while. Don’t want to overwhelm you with them all at once. 🙂

If you’re looking for a challenge, I highly recommend it. It was fun, challenging and I got to explore and try out a lot of ideas I’ve had waiting for “someday”. I think I’m back to being hooked on scrapbooking and while I won’t be creating one a day, I’m sincerely aiming for 3-5 a week.

Here’s a couple I finished up last week…

Little One

This page uses the upcoming Kioshi line from Basic Grey. I adore the beautiful soft colors. The pictures are of a friend’s little girl that I took at the beach. Isn’t she the sweetest?

Cobourg

Last year while hubby was working out of town for 7 months, we went to visit him for a short overnight stay. It was a wonderful way to break up the long week and we’d love to go back again…the harbour is beautiful. I used the Hambly Screen Prints paper as inspiration for the layout and punched the photos and other papers with a Spellbinders circle die. A few rub-ons and embellies finished it off.

Happy Saturday!

3 Blogging years & Happy Valentine’s Day

It’s Valentine’s Day. I wish you all a good one with those you love. We don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day in a big way here. It’s more of a family day rather than just a couples day. The little boys have so much fun with it. I prefer to think of every day as a celebration of love. Today I have a love-themed layout to share with you today. It’s interesting to pair up an old photo with some brand new Basic Grey Cappella paper. It actually won’t be released until April but I was lucky enough to get my hands on some. It was SO easy to work with.

Today is not only Valentine’s Day but it’s also my “blog-a-versary”. It’s hard to believe three entire years have passed since I started blogging. It’s interesting to look back and see the creative journey. There’s been lots of changes, and lots of things to learn and some wonderful opportunities and friends. I’m grateful for it all and am so grateful for all the people who stop by and visit. I have a little something to share so be sure to stay with me for a minute.

love. our day.

I thought this layout would be a good one to share for Valentine’s Day. Even though I didn’t get to CHA, I was lucky enough to get my hands on a little bit of Cappella, the beautiful wedding line from Basic Grey to be released in April. It is so totally gorgeous and easy to work with and so classy too. I can’t wait to scrap more of my wedding photos with it. I know, it’s been twenty years but I’d still love to create an album of our special day.

Quick Tip: To make an old photo look more classic and timeless…change it to black and white.

And as for something to share…I just have to give away a few more stamps and a little paper. My favorite things. Baby Dear is the stamp set that I truly love the best so I thought I’d share it with you today. Thanks so much for stopping by to read my blog and for your support. I truly appreciate each one of you. Whether you’re a new reader or an old friend, say hello in the comments below for a chance to win. Comment before 11 pm EST Tuesday February 16. I’ll be randomly drawing a number from the entries to receive the goodies. Good luck!

boy wonder

I have a fun layout to share with you today. Another one of my 30 in 30. This was number 5. I just adore these photos of child #4. I took these backlit photos while practicing for a photography class last year. I really need to get practicing more as I have a long way to go. And please note…he is NOT wearing lipstick. I’m not quite sure why the photo of this layout makes his lips appear so red. Crazy huh?

I also have a confession to make. I’m now four days behind on my 30 in 30 challenge. I’m trying to get back on track today but it’s a busy week for me, at home as well as designing, so wish me luck! I don’t want to flake out half way through.

Supply List: Lil’ Man patterned paper and chipboard by Cosmo Cricket, Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher, Binding Edge Punch by EK Success, Maya Road Journaling Sheer, ric rack by Creative Impressions,  Prima Galaxy Stars, Spellbinders Nestability Circle Die

I’m off to tackle my to do list. What’s on yours?

Saturday Scrappin

A couple more of my 30 in 30 scrapbooking layouts to share today. These ones were done for Kelly at the Keep in Touch Card shop. She sent me some gorgeous goodies and I had lots of fun playin. The kit she sent was so yummy that I used up almost every scrap. You may notice that some of the same papers make an appearance on both layouts as well as the cards I shared with you the other day on the Card Blitz post.

I do have a card to share today as well but it’s on the blog at Every Thing Creative with a quick and easy printing technique.

my-wish-blog-size.jpg

This design uses a simple grid layout with word stickers for my journaling.

giggle-blog-size.jpg

This layout is a wild mix of color to imitate the photo and to emphasize the playfulness.

I’m hoping to get back on track with my scrapbooking today. It’s been a crazy week and all of a sudden my working ahead status turned into some serious catching up!

Have a wonderful day!
