Paper Crafts Magazine Presents: Card Creations 9 Blog Hop

Each time Paper Crafts Magazine releases an issue, I eagerly await its arrival. I know it’s going to be full of great projects and wonderful inspiration. Sitting on the couch with a new issue and a coffee is my time to relax and enjoy.

The recently released Card Creations vol. 9 did nothing but exceed my expectations. I always love Card Creations as it spans every holiday and occasion you could think of. An entire years worth of inspiration. This special issue is available at most crafting and bookstores and you can also find it online in the Paper Crafts store here.

Check out the cover. Fresh, fun and you don’t even have to open the magazine to be inspired.

Card Creations 9 was so much fun to work on. I love being able to create so many different styles and occasions in one call. The hardest part of it was the deadline. I just didn’t want to stop creating for it!

Today I’m excited to be one of 9 designers asked to be part of the Card Creations 9 blog hop top. That means 9 new and never seen before cards inspired by the cover of Card Creations 9.  I can’t wait to see them all!

Here’s mine…

I love all the white on the cover of Card Creations 9. I was especially loving the white and kraft color combo of Windy’s card and all the wonderful texture.

My design uses some strips of self-adhesive Hero Arts lace to break up the design and add texture. Between the strips also created a great place to stamp my sentiment.

Supplies: kraft cardstock by Bazzill, twine, self adhesive white lace by  Hero Arts, Thank You for Being My Friend stamp set by Hero Arts, Jet Black Archival Ink by Ranger, flower by Prima Marketing, Canvas Chipboard by Prima, Crystal Trinket Pins by Maya Road

no. 5

Today I’m back with another project for Gauche Alchemy. When I opened my package from Gauche Alchemy, the first thing I noticed was all the gorgeous lace. The texture and patterns were stunning.

Playing off this months’ “hot mama” GA theme, I was inspired to go back and scrapbook some photos from almost 6 years ago. Baby number 5 turns 6 at the end of the month. Thinking back I remember just how thrilled I was to bring him home. Whether you are a first time mom or have had many, the feeling never changes. Each child is a treasure, a miracle and a very unique gift from God.

Lace is such a gorgeous and unique addition to a paper crafting project. For this layout I’ve used it as a background and as an accent. Almost everything on this layout comes from Gauche Alchemy. I love the concept of upcycling all manner of materials to create with.

Today on the Gauche Alchemy blog I’m talking about incorporating lace into projects. I hope you’ll join me here.

Have a beautiful day!

Happy Birthday Lori!!

The paper crafts world is filled with so many wonderful and creative people. Among these people, a few stand out from the crowd. Lori Craig is one of those people. She’s fun, sweet and exuberant and always makes you smile. While I’ve never had the pleasure of meeting Lori in person, I’ve enjoyed working with her on past design teams and had lots of laughs and good times on the phone. Lori is genuine gold.

A little birdie told me that Lori is having a very special birthday today. This is the card I’ve sent her way.

Lori, I wish you a day as special as you are.

Tags & Stamps

I’m back with another Avocado Arts Sunshine & Smiles project. This is such a fun and versatile stamp set and I’ve been having fun exploring the possibilities.

Recently, I ordered a tag Sizzix die and thought it would work well with the stamps. By inking the edges of the die cuts for definition, I was able to use only one color of cardstock.

Quick Tip: Don’t always feel that you have to stamp the entire image. Having some of it extend off the layer makes for a more interesting design.

Supplies: Classic Cream Cardstock by Neenah, Brushed Corduroy distress Ink by Ranger, Sunshine and Smiles stamp set by Avocado Arts, Jet Black Archival Ink by Ranger, Tangelo & Rosebud Memento Ink by Tsukineko, Tiny Tabs & Tags Die by Sizzix, rhinestones by Zva Creative, brads by Making Memories

Don’t forget we’re sharing Avocado Arts projects this week all the design team member blogs. Check out some great designs from…

Happy stamping!

grow canvas card

Life is all about growing.

There’s growing up and there’s growing old, and on the journey, growing wise, growing in experience, growing in grace and knowledge.

This weekend was a busy but successful one. We moved my son and helped made him a cozy home out of a small apartment. It will be a big adjustment living on his own in a big city but I’m so excited for him and his new experience. While I made this card a little while ago and it’s definitely not for him, it seemed to fit my thoughts over the past few days.

Supplies: kraft cardstock by Bazzill, Madeline 6×6 paper pad by Prima,  sewing machine, sanding block by Tim Holtz, Printed Canvas by Prima, canvas button & leaf by Prima, blue tulle flower by K & Company, twine

Have a beautiful day!

Call Me

Today I have to learn how to let go.

My oldest moves out today. I’m so excited for him and his new opportunity, I know it’s time but the house just won’t be the same without him. He doesn’t like things all sentimental so I’ll keep this short and sweet. I love him and he will be very much missed. I’m counting on him calling and coming home often.

I’m so thankful for technology, aren’t you? The way we can keep in touch pretty much anywhere.

Yesterday I thought I’d create a little felt pouch to store my phone in and protect it. It’s a sweet little pouch  and if you don’t have a phone, it can be used for many other things. Today I’m in the CLASSroom with a tutorial and step outs. Here’s the link.

Now I’m off to get busy as it’s going to be a crazy day!

Have a fabulous weekend!

Vintage Finds

Vintage is such a fun style. Using old product and upcycling is a great way to experiment and play around with new ideas. I love the flavour that found items give to projects.

Love this look but like me, don’t have the time to find them on your own? Gauche Alchemy is a great monthly kit club that does the hard work for you. I’m excited to be guest designing for them this month and going through all the wonderful and unique bits and pieces has been a little like Christmas.

One of my absolutely favorite vintage finds to use it old books and papers. I’ve incorporated some into both of this week’s projects in a couple different ways. don’t you love the darkened edges of these old papers. So unique!

Here’s a peek at another card. You can find the rest of it on my first guest post for Gauche Alchemy here.

Take care!
