Monthly Archives: January 2011

a little love

So it’s January and the next big thing is Valentine’s Day. A sweet day to warm up a long winter.

Valentines are always fun cards to create. Often I make them shabby and layered but today’s design is quick and clean. I adore using rub-ons for this look and these sweet ones from the Pink Paislee Sweetness line are so pretty. I just love all the text on these.

Supplies: cardstock by Bazzill, heart trinket pins by Maya Road, Sweetness Press-ons & buttons by Pink Paislee

For those of you who enjoyed using my Noel digital file, it thought I’d share a love themed one with you.

To use it, click on it to enlarge and then save. I can be printed out for a hybrid card design. Please feel free to use for your personal use only and link to this blog rather than redistributing the file. Thanks!

Enjoy your weekend!

Simply White

Looking for some inspiration? How about this gorgeous cake to trigger a design?

As soon as I saw it, I just had to run down to my craft room and create. I love white on white. It’s one of my favorite color combos. Actually, can you really call it a color combo? Isn’t white the absence of color? I  don’t know. I think it’s too early to worry about it, don’t you?

This beautiful cake image is this week’s Tuesday Trigger on Moxie Fab World. Why not stop by, check it out and play along?

White on  White Wedding Card

Here’s my card inspired by the photo. I’ve incorporated that white on white look, the flowers, and three layers of cardstock for the base to give my card the same tiered effect.

The beautiful beaded glitter paper is a sheet  I’ve been hoarding for a long time. I believe it may have come from Michael’s and I love how elegant it it.

Supplies: flowers by Prima, Eggshell hem tape, rhinestones by Zva Creative, cardstock by Bazzill, foam dimensional squares, Pearl Trinket Pin by Maya Road

Happy creating!

Baby It’s Cold Outside

After a rather wet New Years, we’re back to winter and more snow, snow, snow.

Actually, I love it. What’s winter without snow? Might as well have something fun to do in the cold weather.

With all the snow, today seems to be a great day to share one of my January Up the Street Scrapbooking Kit layouts. This kit goes on sale today and it is so wonderful to work with. The colors and prints were a dream to work with. I’m so glad to get some winter pictures scrapped. It seems that my albums are mostly of summer and this is a great change.

Brrrrrr

This kit includes the Glimmer Mist and a Pearl Adirondack Paint Dabber adding lots of shimmer to the project.

Keep warm!

Vintage Collage

Collage cards.

You either love them or well, don’t.

I think you’ll all know where I fall on the question. Love them!

I also love creating with lots of odds and ends and as of yet, I don’t think I’ve too many Tim Holtz products that I didn’t like.

I’ve used quite a few on the above design.

How many can you spot?

This card is in the CLASSroom today for Day 10 of the 12 Days of Christmas. Ellen has 10 fabulous Tim Holtz goodies to give away to be sure to stop by.

Take care,

Shabby Goes Glam

It’s the new year and I’ve been busy thinking of some of my crafting goals for 2011.

One of them is to have more fun. To create projects just for the sheer joy of creating.

I’m also hoping to find time for more challenges.  Cath’s Moxie Fab Glitter is Glam challenge has been catching my eye every time I stop by MFW for a visit. It’s been teasing me. Perhaps tormenting me a little as well as I really wanted to play along. That’s why today, I’ve set aside my to do list for an hour and just had fun.

Sweet Glitter Wish

The Sweetness line by Pink Paislee is so stunning, I just can’t get tired of it. The stunning prints also work perfectly for my favorite simple glitter technique. Simply cover a piece of patterned paper with a double-sided dry adhesive sheet, sprinkle on a transparent glitter and then burnish. Burnishing the glitter into the adhesive with a bone folder or other item will keep the glitter in place and give you a beautiful finish.

I couldn’t just stop at one glitter item once I got going. You can see in the above photo that I’ve used a beautiful glitter cardstock by Coredinations for the card base. Even the Prima flower has glitter on it.

Supplies: glitter cardstock by Coredinations, Sweetness 6×6 paper pad by Pink Paislee, crystal trinket pins & Word Charm by Maya Road, Twine, Symphony Flower Blend flower by Prima, white cardstock by Bazzill, sewing machine, transparent microfineglitter by Art Institute, Be Creative Adhesive

Happy creating!

A Brand New Year

Happy New Year! I hope it brings many wonderful things your way. It seems so hard to believe that it is 2011 already.

I don’t know what 2011 will bring. Perhaps some changes but hopefully not too many. I’m enjoying things the way they are right now.

One thing that won’t be changing is how I feel about my hubby. He’s the best. The fun hopelessly devoted title piece inspired this layout about him & I. It’s a sneak peek at the new January Up the Street January Scrapbooking Kit that will be released early next week. The colors are gorgeous and I’m enjoying the kit so much.

Hopelessly Devoted

Quick Tip: Use a die cut shaped paper as your page base for a unique look.

The beautiful Glimmer Mist spray is included in the kit. I love how adding it adds a great colorful and artistic look to the project.

I also believe we have a winner for that Hero Arts stamp set. Thanks so much for all the lovely comments!

random.org picked the winning number for me and it was comment #8.

Congrats Bessie Segal! I hope you enjoy your new stamp set. Please e-mail me with your address and I’ll pop it in the mail early in the week. The link is at the top of my sidebar.

Happy New Year!
