Quick Scraps Saturday

I have two projects to share with you today. A card and a layout. I’m a patterned paper addict and I just can’t bear to through out my scraps. This leads me to thinking of ways to use them up. Today’s projects use up some Lily Bee Design paper from their Vintage Poppy line. I had just enough to put together a simple layout and a card. What I really had fun with on these projects is the Vintage Poppy Frame Die-Cut sheet. On the layout I cut one to frame the top and bottom of my design and by cutting a frame in half and switching the orientation of the paper, it looks like a fun center-opening layer.

Spring Flowers

It’s a CLASSroom day! I love Fridays because it’s time for a fun weekend and because I get to teach a project in the CLASSroom. Here’s what I had fun with this week…

Spring Blossom Card

I am SO ready for Spring and those fresh flowers. Join me at the CLASSroom for step outs.

Happy Friday!

Fresh and New

It’s no secret that I love new product. It’s always so much fun to play with! Yesterday some paper and goodies I ordered came in the mail and I just wanted to play with them. Last week’s WT challenge was a tricky one so this week, I thought I’d make it super easy. Most of you will have some new goodies in the house. Those recent CHA releases are super hard to resist. Create a project that shows off your new stamps, papers or other product for an easy challenge today. Check it out here.

The Carriage Awaits

I decided to put a double spin on the challenge and create a baby card with my new Webster’s Pages Lullaby 6×6 paper pad. Nothing as fresh and new as a baby. I adore them.  While the stamps aren’t new, I hadn’t even cut out a couple of them yet so they are “new” to me.

I’m adoring vintage at the moment. The layers, distressing and pretty details are so fun to work with. I’ve stamped right on the patterned paper here to add interest to each layer.

Quick Tip: Some stamps are designed to be interactive. Write in the amount of time left or circle not soon enough for a personalized design.

Just Saying…

Time for another card. Anyone else lovin’ the new Kioshi line by Basic Grey? So soft and pretty for spring. Ellen now has both Kioshi and Green at Heart in the store and I’m drooling. This is such a hard time of year on my crafting budget! All that beautiful new product being released after Winter CHA. I’m hoping the mail lady arrives with some more of my orders today. I’ve been bad.

One thing I have been doing is purging my older supplies. I’m finally parting with my Daisy D’s paper that I’ve been holding onto. I loved their lines. However it’s taking up space that I really need and it’s time for a local scrapbooking garage sale that I participate in. Do you have one in your area? I love them! The store credit is a wonderful thing to have.

Just Saying Hello

I needed to feel a little spring so I came up with this design. It’s a little difficult to see in this photo but I stamped a leaf from the Hero Arts Leaf Prints set onto the Kraft ticket and then overstamped it with butterflies.

Attitude

removed-for-pub-jks.jpg

I’m still having fun exploring my scrapbooking style.  Each time I create a layout I learn something new. Even if it’s just what not to do! LOL I’m finding that it’s very similar to my card making style. The above Attitude layout was one of my first 30 in 30 layouts and I think one of my favorites. I’m lovin those bright colors. Note to self: Try more of this! My very picky teenager loves it too so that makes me very happy. 🙂

Quick Tip: a grid is a great way to use up scraps!

Natural Born Charmer

natural-born-charmer-blog.jpg

Yesterday I just wanted to create. I think I was feeling a little bit of scrappin withdrawal as I didn’t get time to scrapbook last week. While being frustrated because of lack of time isn’t fun, I was glad to feel it as it meant my 30 in 30 challenge did what it was intended to do… get me back into the rhythm of designing layouts more frequently. I’m quite addicted to Jenni Bowlin as you can see. I also got a little daring (for me anyway) and did a little doodling on the layout. This layout is from a sketch site I just found. I knew the pictures I took this past weekend would be perfect for it. This is sketch#43 from Inspired Blueprints.

Supply List: patterned paper by Pink Paislee, die cut paper by Jenni Bowlin, Chipboard buttons & Vintage Style Buttons by Jenni bowlin, Stickers by Studio Calico, twill tape, dymo label maker, Rub-ons, Stickers by Jenni Bowlin, twine.

 Enjoy your day!

I’m Buzzin

I’m buzzing…seriously big-time. I’m so unbelievably excited to be part of the new Lily Bee Design Team! I just love their product lines and it’s going to be an absolute joy to work with them. Congrats to the rest of the dt. I’m excited to work with you!  Here’s one of the layouts I created for the design team call.

So Glad

Lately I’ve been having fun with some Hero Arts stamps and thought I’d go for a simple look on this card.Wanting to see how the new Distress Ink colors lined up against my old favorite, Shabby Shutters, I stamped the leaves in the different inks. If you’re looking for how the new ink colors look, the top left leave stamped under the “so” is the original Shabby Shutters. I’m loving the two new greens I tried as well. Bundled Sage is the small maple leaf and the top right oak leaf is stamped in Crushed Olive.

13 more days

13 more days…

…until Spring!

Hooray! Of course that’s just the official date of spring on the calendar. Here in Ontario we usually get snow into April but that’s OK. I know that warmer days are coming.

I was playing around with some scraps on my desk and decided to try out a new stamp that I’ve had sitting here, just waiting to be inked. It’s one of the new Hero Arts Clings and my first time trying one out. I have to say I’m hooked. Yummy red rubber and I love how easy it is to use.

Happy Spring

jks-happy-spring.jpg

I had bits and pieces of these sweet Jenni Bowlin papers left over from Thursday’s card so I thought I’d put them to good use instead of throwing them out. 1″x4″ size pieces are really not worth putting away. I’m loving the bright happy colors of this Front Porch line and added rows of Stickle dots to the stamped image to highlight the scallops. The stitched butterfly is part of a Printable Pierceable file created for Every Thing Creative. I just printed the template onto some printer paper, cut out the butterfly and laid it over my layer. Simply pierce and then stitch with embroidery floss.

Supply List: Front Porch 4×4 patterned papers and Vintage Style Button Jenni Bowlin, Write You Own Cling Stamp by Hero Arts,  Black Archival Ink by Ranger, Tiny Type Letters by Cosmo Cricket, Simply Smooth White cardstock by Cornish Heritage Farms, twine, embroidery floss, Printable Piercing Basics Template by Every Thing Creative, Christmas Red Stickles by Ranger
