Sweet Girl…

I just love this darling stamp image. It reminds me of my daughter when she was younger. Little girls are so sweet. When creating this card, the little dress reminded me of a beautiful smocked dress I had made for her in blue. Blue dress, blond hair…so sweet. I don’t smock any longer. It’s a beautiful craft but I must admit…time consuming. I know that the time will come when I pick up that needle again. I’m sure I won’t be able resist down the road when my children are old enough to have children of their own.

Little One Love

To create this design, I stamped the main image, Sweet One Collage stamp from Cornish Heritage Farms, using my Black Palette Ink. After watercoloring using my Niji waterbrush and my dye ink pads, I distressed the edges using my Heidi Swapp Edge Distresser before stitching to the design.

I’ve been wanting to try out my Weathered Wood Distress Crackle Paint and brushed some over my Maya Road chipboard flourish. I just love the crackle of this paint and am finding more and more great applications for it. Distress Crackle Paint is the product spotlight at CHF for another two days. If you are thinking of trying some, now is a great time as it is on sale.

Quick Tip: Use watercolor paper for your stamped images if you plan on watercoloring them. The ease and depth of the coloring is much improved over cardstock.

I thought I’d include a couple quick pics of one of the dresses I created. The light is not great here this morning so I apologize for the poor quality of the photos. It was a last minute idea that popped into my head. I love seeing photos of the things that inspire people and thought you might like the same.

Dress was created with a Chery Williams Basic Square Yoke Dress pattern using blue Pima cotton gingham, DMC embroidery floss. I believe the smocking plate was from an issue of Australian Smocking and Embroidery. It seems impossible to believe I made this dress 10 years ago this spring.
