Stamp this?

I’m always looking for new ideas for stamping, and new surfaces to try stamping on. Recently I created this fun card by stamping and embossing a Scrapblockâ„¢ on some velvet paper. It turns a super simple card into something a little more special.

Cork, patterned paper, foam, buttons, fabric, felt, even leather are fun to stamp on. If you want to check out a fun suede Western Christmas Card…you can see my free on-line project on the Paper Creations web-site. I’m really tickled with how that one can out so I hope you will! 🙂 There’s also a non-stamped winter card above it if you’re looking for something a little more scrappy. 🙂

If you’re looking for the Ways to Use it Challenge today… life has been a bit crazy this week and Michele Boyer has kindly offered to host it for me. What a great friend!

Have a great day and don’t forget to try stamping on something different now and then!

Quick and Easy!

While some days I like to make more involved card designs, a lot of the time…quick and really is my favorite way to go. Why? Well…it seems that the days just keep getting busier and busier. Seriously…I always thought teenagers had to be less work than toddlers but now I’m not so sure! And of course… mixing up the two is a very special challenge! LOL I don’t do things by halves, do I?! I’m sure you have a super busy life as well and I hope you’ll give yourself “permission” to make quick and easy card designs too. It took me a while to get the concept that more is not necessarily more! To create quick and easy designs that are still “me”, I like to mix stamping, paper and fun embellishments together for an eclectic mix.

Happy Harvest… an ensemble

If seems in my mind that Fall is all about harvest and cooking as well as enjoying cooler days. If you live near me…MUCH cooler! I’m actually thinking its now winter even though the calendar doesn’t say so until Dec 21st. This harvest table ensemble was designed for the latest special edition of Paper Crafts magazine…PC Gourmet. It’s full of great recipes and paper crafting projects and I was delighted to be asked to design four projects to go along with some of them. I thought I’d share this one as its perfect for this time of year. I know my American friends are still to celebrate their Thanksgiving and this project just may give you a few ideas. The little mini basket is tied with a tag and would be filled with garden bounty.

Home and Heart, Homegrown Hospitality….Holiday Home?

I kind of have to smile…three different names for this magazine in a space of what…four issues? I guess I’m smiling because I so love this magazine. Smiling because I want to try and overcome the sadness at seeing its last issue hit the stands. Such a beautiful unique magazine that I always treasured its arrival and spending time going through each page. The lovely designs and beautiful photography set this publication apart. I was thrilled to have a project published in this last issue. This card is part of a gift set featuring a decorated holiday mug and fudge gift package. For some strange reason, I totally forgot to take a photo of the rest of the project before mailing it out. I’m having trouble finding an on-line link for this issue but you can purchase it at your local craft or bookstore. This magazine is a publication by CK Media.

Quick Tip: Adding lots of texture makes a monochromatic design special.

Have a fabulous weekend!

A Little Vintage…

Do you like vintage? I love all things vintage! Today’s card design is a mix of things I found and put together into a friendship thinking of you design. This card was published in the June/July issue of Paper Trends and I’m anxiously awaiting it back. The silver brooch is actually on my grandmother gave me. I spent a lovely morning last September looking through old family photos with my aunt. It seems the beach has been a very popular place for previous generations whether it be the shores of the Atlantic on the coast of Northern Ireland or the tamer shores of Lake Huron that I visit. I must say…I’ve never seen anyone quite so dressed up to visit the shore before! 😉 I love those photo though. Isn’t she stylin’?!

Papercrafting Three Ways…

Did you ever think about how you can design a project at least three ways? Using the same elements and layout, you can keep it simple, crank it up a notch or go all out! It’s your choice depending on your style, the product you have on hand and your time available. Clean, simple design can be beautiful and so can the more involved.

A new special issue from Paper Crafts Magazine, Papercrafting Three Ways is released next Tuesday August 12th and you won’t want to miss it. It will show you how to create great simple designs and also how to add elements or change up the technique for different looks. Also in this issue…some  designers were asked to create a project using the same product. Three designers with the same product = 3 totally unique takes. Can’t wait to see them!

Color!

I love color! Pops of color, funky combos, monochromatic…color is a fabulous way to express yourself. Paper Crafts Magazine has a great new issue hitting the stands (August/September 2008 issue) and its all about color. I have a few projects in this issue and I’m allowed to share one with you here.

Thinking of You Bird Card

jks-simply-thinking-of-you.jpg

I decided to share this design because its a little different in style from what I’ve been designing lately. Ultra clean and simple.  I like to mix things up a little. This quick card uses a Heidi Swapp Mask and the Copic Airbrush System… both products I really want to find time to play around more!

You can purchase single issues or subscribe to Paper Crafts Magazine 0n-line at their site. Also at PC Mag…voting for the PC Idol starts this afternoon. Have fun voting for your favorite design!

Thanks also for supporting me by voting for my layout on the Ultimate Summer Challenge.

Have a fabulous day!
