Cooking with the Card Kitchen

I love guest designing as it gives you the opportunity to try out new things.  It’s always an honour and I’m so excited to be guest designing for the Card Kitchen Kit Club. I’ve been cooking (creating) up a storm with the April kit. I knew it would be fun as the Card Kitchen Kit Club is packed with great Jillibean Soup product which I always adore working with.

April’s kit is full of new Jillibean product and some fun accessories.  I have a lot (8 in total) cards to share this week so pop back each day as I share more fun ideas for this kit.

You can find the full versions of these cards on the Card Kitchen blog here.

Need to purchase the kit? Trust me…you do! Check it out here.

Happy creating!

lost & found

This time of year, I like to do a lot of spring cleaning. Things seem to pile up over the winter and I’ve been spending days sorting, purging and generally doing a great “clean sweep”. I’ve found a lot of treasures and misplaced items and that always makes it so worth it.

One project I found was a card I had never shared here with you. It was from a Lily Bee card class I taught last year using my Victoria Park paper line.

This is a rare card for me…one that’s made with 99.9% paper and ink. Just a couple little metal staples on it that can be left off if they are not your thing.

I’m still a huge fan of the 3D Flower Die. It’s my favourite Sizzix die and I can’t imagine what they would have to come up with to replace it in my affections. This die makes such beautiful and easy rolled roses. {love}

Quick Tip: To make the leaves, punch a circle from patterned paper or cardstock. Punch that circle again to make a curved leaf shape. You can get two leaves from one punched circle.

Thanks for stopping by!

FAB-ric Tape, Maya Road & a Guest Designer Call

Love washi tape? I do! But I do think that fabric tape is totally fab as well. Maybe even better! It’s tougher for one thing and that texture…awesome!

How about making chevrons with fabric tape?

Or stitching it?

It’s also great for making borders, ribbon etc. etc. etc.

It’s no secret that I’ve been a huge Maya Road fan for years…long, long before I was part of the design team. If you’re like me, here’s something you’re going to want to check out!

I hope you apply and good luck!

Happy creating!

Supplies:

sweet baby girl

Spring always seems to be the time to think of new birth and so here’s a sweet new baby girl design for today.

Once again, its a mixture of old and new. Ive used the DIY Thickers to create the sentiment. They are made of white fabric covered chipboard and look lovely without any technique whatsoever.

I love creating square cards. It always makes the layout so easy to balance. By cutting them to 4.25 inches square they will fit well into the standard card making envelope.

Die cut numbers from Pink Paislee make this card a breeze to create. I love the fun over-sized style of them and they let the age say it all.

Add a few embellishments and a sweet rub-on sentiment from Pebbles Inc. and you’re ready to attend the birthday party!

Quick Tip: Mix up all kinds of different embellishments for a fun eclectic look.

Lemon Wishes

It’s officially spring although it certainly doesn’t look like it here in Ontario. I’m looking forward to warmer temperatures, melting snow and my favourite Spring flower popping up from the earth. I adore daffodils. So sunny and fresh looking. If I had to pick a colour to represent Spring it definitely would be yellow!

A little bit of this and that makes a fun study in lemon. Once again I’m using up my bits and pieces to make a fun card. It’s a fun way to clean the stamp room and it’s also a great way to ease back into creating.

Wishing you some sunny spring weather!

XO…simply saturday

Simple designs are among my very favourites.

Here’s a love themed card that’s a little more masculine in flavour…even if I couldn’t resist adding the beautiful bright red poppies.

This design has a few older products on it. I had fun using those bits and pieces up.

Have a simply wonderful day!
