classics for dad

June is always a wonderful month. It brings summer, school holidays, trips to the beach and Father’s Day. Today I have a gift project for dear old dad.

Is it just me or does anyone else find dads hard to create or buy for? I always find it so tricky. The other day I was going through my stash looking for some inspiration and came across this metal cd tin. Sorry…I’ve had it a while and I can’t remember where it came from but I’m sure a Google search would help you come up with a source. My guy is a music lover so I thought it would be fun to put all his favorites on a CD or two or three. His own personal music mix. My daughter actually made me up a CD while she was away at school this past year and I loved the gift.

Because this tin will hold classics, I went with a classic vintage style to alter the tin. The edges are wrapped with Tissue Tape and give it a fun feel.

The embellishments are made up of papers from the Boarding Pass line by October Afternoon and some chipboard accent pieces that I’ve covered or stained. Adhering them is easy with Craft Glue Dots®. Glue Dots® work great even on tough surfaces like metal and wood.

all good things…

Well all good things must come to an end. I’ve been so honored to be part of the Avocado Arts Design Team since their beginning over a year ago. It’s been, well, wonderful. I love their stamps, the design team, the people that make up the company. It’s one of the rare teams where we’ve shared friendships, laughs, prayers and tears. And that’s what makes it oh so hard to say goodbye.

So why am I saying goodbye? Priorities. They are important things. It’s so hard to balance them in any life and over the past while, I’ve been a little overwhelmed. OK. A lot.  I’m hoping with a few less deadlines on my plate to find some more time for my family and myself. Simplifying is a good thing.

Today’s card is another masculine design. It would be easy to change it up with some lighter colors to make it a girl card. I’m seriously loving this tree stamp. The leaves look just like word bubbles. You could totally cut them out and use them that way on a design. Fun! Today I’ve stamped sentiments into the “leaf bunches”. They are stamped on some text patterned paper and then sponged with Crushed Olive Distress Ink to get that lovely green.

Well…with this card brings my last blog share with the Avocado Arts team.

Here’s some of those very talented ladies with some more inspiring projects using this set…

While today brings the  last day for me on the team, Kimberly Crawford is also stepping down today as well. Best wishes to you Kimberly!
Lastly, June 1st means it’s Avocado Arts first  anniversary. Congrats to AA! It’s been so exciting to watch you grow this past year and many thanks for allowing me to be a very small part of it. I have been so honored to be part of the team.
Make sure you stop by Avocado Arts today for lots of exciting news and a celebration!
