simplify

Day two of 2012 and I’m finding it crazy hard to slow down. How DO you simplify when there are seven people in the house, all with different agendas. Oh…and we’re renovating again. I think I’m going to have to hold out till next week to get a little peace and quiet!

Now here’s a bit of business I’ve been dying to get onto the computer and announce. I’m so excited to be able to give away that spot to the Journey to Happiness, What Matters Most class by Lisa Day! Random.org is my go-to number picker and it chose comment number 3. Congrats Darlene S! Enjoy the class! I’ll be sending you the information so look for it in your inbox!

I’ve been playing around with my Distress Stains again and here’s a simple little card using them to swipe a pretty striped background. Just turn the dabber over, press onto the paper and swipe across the surface. It’s so pretty I know I’m going to have to play around with this idea a little more.

Quick Tip: Experiment with different cardstock papers to find which best absorbs the color of these Distress Stains. For this particular technique, I’ve used the Bazzill white textured cardstock as I find it worked best for me.

In the centers of the largest stamped flowers I’ve added a little shine with a dot of Glossy Accents. This Hero Arts stamp is one of my favorites as there are so many things you can do with it.

2012

It’s arrived! Happy New Year to you! I wish you a wonderful year to come.

Each new year is always a new beginning of possibilities. I wonder what is in store for me this year. I wonder what God has planned.

Usually at the end of December I take some time to look back and remember all the joys and blessings, all the good times and bad this year has brought. The year the month went hurtling by and I find myself a bit bewildered as to what happened. I don’t usually make resolutions but as I think of the year to come, I’m hoping for a little more calm. I’m going to try and take more time for myself. I’m going to make it a priority to enjoy each day as a gift from God and enjoy the simple pleasures.

Since I’m thinking of simple joys, this cup of tea card ties in perfectly. The stamp set used is the new Avocado Arts Sweet Treats Sweetie set which is sooo darling. I’ve paper piece the tea cup and saucer and used my Head Over Heels 6×6 paper pad to add some sweet prints.

Quick Tip: Stitching on a layer of vellum is a great way to see the pattern but highlight the image.

Once again part of the Avocado Arts Design Team has some fun samples to share with you. Here’s the links…
