It’s the last few weeks of summer.
This time of year is always hard. I hate to see the summer end. I want to cram in every last possible moment of joy before school starts, the leaves fall and sweater season begins.
It’s not that I don’t like Autumn. I do.
But summer is just a very special time. Especially here in Canada when it’s so short.
Looking out the windows I see beautiful fields of corn. It’s so high this year that I really can’t see much BESIDES corn. But that’s a good thing.
Perhaps it’s inspired the country feel of this card I’ve created for the CLASSroom. I hope you’ll join me here.

It’s been busy lately. Lots of weddings this season and I was delighted to host a bridal shower earlier in the week. It was a fun venture that kept me busy for a couple weeks and I thought I’d share a peek with you.
As I love designing in Photoshop, I created a custom invitation. It’s edited a little for privacy but you’ll get the idea.
Because of our on-going renovation, my dad was kind enough to let me host it at his home. I took advantage of my late mother’s teacups and the lovely dining room to go with a tea party theme. Please forgive the photo quality. It’s not the best due to the lighting
Queen cakes have long been a British favourite and having grown up with them, mine as well. I love the royal icing topping over mounds of heavy frosting and I piped on some sweet little royal icing flowers for decoration.
Last minute decor means keeping it sweet and simple. This little garland was created by punching out lots of hearts from scrap patterned paper and then stitching them together.
Another nod to the tea party theme, I created a quick bouquet of roses in a teacup. Literally a two minute project and very sweet. I also purchased some little pots of ivy and greenery and planted them in teacups and china jugs.
This photo just shows the sweets side of the table. Queen cakes, lemon loaf, welsh cakes, brownies, Swiss fingers, Neapolitan squares, pecan squares and tiny teacups filled with love hearts candies.
Inspired by Pinterest, we made these fruit kabobs which were a big hit. I’ll be making those again.

It’s summer time, which in my mind equals bright beautiful color.
I’ve been having a blast with the gorgeous Artisan Resistable Paper Pack by Pink Paislee. It’s full of gorgeous prints that you can add color to to make any hue you can think of. As you can see, it looks great in a bright and bold color combo.

Pinterest seems to be an addicting source of inspiration for myself and everyone else these days. The theme for this blog hop is to find an inspiration piece and design a card around it. The colors, prints and big gorgeous blooms on these sweet aprons I found here really drew me inspired the following card design.
I’ve used my favorite new addiction…the Pink Paislee Artisan Resist-able Papers. Each paper comes white with an embossed white design on it. Simply add color and you have a gorgeous custom paper. I’ve sponged distress inks onto the papers to get similar colors as my inspiration piece.
The beautiful floral accents on the aprons inspired a cluster of gorgeous embellishments.

It’s the time of year for wedding bells and bridal showers. I’ve been to more this year that I have in the past decade! Love must be in the air.
I’ve been enjoying buying presents and creating cards for the special events. Today’s card design is one I whipped up yesterday for a bridal shower I attended last night.
I love a soft vintage style so that’s what I went with. Combining bits and pieces of this and that is my favourite way to design and it’s also a great way to use up supplies and clean up your desk.
Here’s the embellishments clustered together.
And here’s a peek at the inside of the card. I made my own little layered banner but cutting the scraps from the papers on the front into sweet little pennants. Just the tops of each paper are adhered there to give a little lift to the bottoms of each piece of the banner.
