What is happiness? I don’t think we ever arrive at a point in life where we say…this is happiness. Nothing is ever perfect or if it seems to be, well, it’s not for long. There are so many distractions in life.
I think that happiness is found in the little things. It’s found in being grateful. It’s found in the peace of knowing that you’re doing the right thing even when it’s hard. It’s found in a selfless attitude. In helping others. In a heart of praise.
Today’s project is a layout about my youngest. He makes me happy. He is exuberant and it makes me smile.
I’m excited about this layout as it uses a new technique I dreamed up and finally found the time to test it out. It worked just like a thought it would first try. Love that!
What is it? Well chevrons are so popular these days but they can be difficult to cut out without a template. I decided it would be fun to come up with a folded chevron technique that uses a 2″x12″ strip of paper. The folded edges look so pretty and the cuts and folds were super easy to do.
Today I’m on the Lily Bee Blog sharing this layout and more details. I hope you’ll join me here.
I’m also hoping to work on a new video tutorial for you today sharing how I made these chevrons. Stay tuned as I hope to be back tomorrow with it. Fingers crossed!

Last week I was in need of some sympathy cards. Not for anyone close to me but the father of an on-line and creative friend. I know how heart-breaking it is to lose a parent. When I lost my mother five years ago I was blessed to be inundated with beautiful handmade cards from the crafting community. Each card helped to know that someone cared and going to the mailbox brought a bright spot to each day.
I decided to share this first card with you today because it is so flexible. I like using butterflies on sympathy cards because of their symbolism of hope and new life. If you changed this sentiment of this card, it would be perfect for an Easter design or get well or a myriad of other ideas.
I’ve used a lot of misting to create this design. The unique quality that mists bring to each project has me hooked on creating with them. No one card will be exactly the same as another. Each of the canvas butterflies were misted with a different Maya Mist.
One thing you may not have noticed in the above photo is that the kraft cardstock is also misted. I’ve used a Mini Dot Template and laid it over the Kraft cardstock before misting with Snow White Maya Mist. It has the most beautiful sheen to it when it catches the light.

I always look forward to Easter weekend each year. I love chocolate and eggs but importantly taking the time to consider the real meaning of Easter. This year my family will all be together again and I’m looking forward to that too.
The other day I was finishing up using the last of a roll of Glue Dots®. I go through this adhesive like crazy. I set the empty roll aside as I knew that I could definitely recycle it into something creative. Re-purposing packaging is a wonderful thing.
Yesterday I was busy creating when it hit me that these rolls would be a perfect way to display Easter eggs. Please forgive me that my egg isn’t died yet but I know you get the idea. Just picture my little project with a lovely pastel hand-dyed egg.
To create this project I covered my empty Glue Dots® roll with some patterned paper. I then adhered some lovely tulle trim around the inside of the roll. More of those wonderful Glue Dots® to the rescue.
Next came tying the roll with twine and fixing it in place with a Glue Dots® under the knot. And lastly, I adhered the flower in place as well. To finish it off, I put some sphagnum moss in the middle of the roll to make a little “nest” for the egg. Sweet!

Just a few more days until Easter! How are you packaging some of those sweets?
I thought some little vellum pillow boxes might just be the ticket. They are filled with mini eggs (Cadbury’s are my favorite!) that you can see through the vellum and they are all tied up with some twine and simple spring embellishments.
To create this sweet little pillow boxes, I started off with a Sizzix die. For me it’s a classic and a great way to package things. By using Vellum instead of cardstock, it just adds a light spring-like touch. Vellum can be hard to adhere though so this die cut pillow box is adhere with Glue Dots® Lines along the edge to keep it secure.
To keep my chipboard butterfly, embellishments and even my knotted twine in perfect place, I’ve turned to my favorite adhesive, Craft Glue Dots®. They have a really strong bond and are perfect for even heavy embellishments.

April 1st means April Fool’s Day. You won’t be getting any tricks from me. Just some pretty stamping.
The first of the month always means sharing an Avocado Arts project using the latest stamp set. I know I’ve said it before but I just have to say it again…LOVE this Sew Nice stamp set.
Because it’s a sewing theme, I thought it would be fun to stamp on fabric. I love the Sticky Back Canvas for stamping on. It always has an amazing texture and I love misting it too. To create this panel, I first stamped the canvas with Jet Black Archival ink and heat set it with my heat gun. Here’s another thing I’ve said before but since I’m always getting asked about it, I hope you won’t mind the repetition. Ranger Archival Inks are hands-down my favorite inks for stamping on fabrics. They always give me such a nice clean and crisp image and they are permanent when heat set.
Next step… mist the canvas with a couple different mists. It adds a subtle shimmer that you cant’ see in the photo and the softly blended colors and so pretty.
It’s the first of the month so some of the Avocado Arts Design Team have a little inspiration to share with you today…

Happy April! Don’t fall prey to too many pranks!
