Night Before Christmas

Well, actually….it’s NOT the night before Christmas. The title has nothing to do with the date but rather, it’s release day for my new Rummage Bin stamp set, Night Before Christmas.  Perhaps for some of you it’s a little early to be thinking of Christmas but the saying does go…Christmas in July, right? For others of you…the super organized ones, you want to get ahead of the mad rush but the fact is…July is the season for Summer CHA and Christmas releases in the scrapbooking and stamping worlds. I’ve been sharing a few peeks over the past few days but here is the entire set… Eighteen stamps that work well for cards, tags and other holiday projects. I designed the sentiments so that they would work well on their own, but also, the four one-line sentiments all fit into the three images that include a sentiment box.

no peeking

{project removed for publication…be back soon}

This is a  4″ circular die cut card that is one of my favorites. To create a circular card, simply fold your cardstock in half and then die cut. Make sure that you leave some of the fold, just inside the scalloped cuts so that it will open and form a hinge instead of cutting into two separate layers.

You may have noticed that I only colored the skin, hair and stockings on this  image. It’s totally OK to color only highlights in the image. I really wanted the main focus to be on those sweet little faces and and stockings hanging on their bed.

Quick Tip: Cut your patterned paper layer separately from the card base. Once it’s adhered you can’t tell that some of the scallops (where the hinge is) are a little short.

Christmas Wishes

This card uses a little more a traditional color scheme and shape. The image is colored with Copic markers. To get the candle glow, I first colored the background and then pushed the color back with my light yellow Copic marker. I think there’s going to be a little peeking going on in this image too. 🙂
