Color Your World

Now “color your world” may seem like a strange title for a Ways to Use it Challenge. Yes I am aware that the SCS color challenge is on Tuesdays and it already has another hostess! 😉 But unlike the color challenge where you are challenged to use a certain combo, today I’d like to challenge you to find ways to use on-line color generators. What’s that you say? Well if you are ever looking for inspiration for a color combo…there are a lot of fabulous resources out there. If you’ve been doing these challenges for a while, you’ll know that this is a rerun challenge…one we have done before. Recently I came across a site I had never heard of before and found it really inspiring. Here’s a link to the Kuler site I love. If you’d like to play along with this fun color combo challenge…check it out here. We’d love to have you play along!

Below is a  color combo that I loved and wanted to try out called snow berries. Now if you look at my design below, I have to admit the colors are a little off. First…it’s not always possible to find the exact match in cardstock and secondly….I hate my printer! It does not print out the colors that are on my screen and so when I went to color match, what looks like rust on the screen looked more red and that dark thyme color??? It totally looked like brown. What’s with that? Oh well…I had fun with the challenge and while it was a challenge trying to use all five colors of cardstock…I did end up with something different and out of the box for me that I actually like. Isn’t that what a challenge is all about?

 A Friend Loves

This is one of those card designs where I just enjoyed the journey. I had no idea where I was going when I started. I had originally wanted to add in a stamped image but it just didn’t fit so I settled on a stamped background and sentiment and a cleaner look.

Quick Tip: To add some cohesion to all those stripes of cardstock…I stitched them together and repeated a green in the lace as well as my background color in the middle of the stripes.

Here’s a little color in my world at the moment. One of my favorite orchids is finally blooming!
