It’s time for another Take Two challenge! I love doing these challenges with a few of my friends. It’s always so fun to see what everyone comes up with. The “two” elements of this challenge was chosen by my good friend Lindsey. We let her 😉 because….she is celebrating her birthday today! Happy birthday Lindsey!!! Hope its a good one! Lindsey chose 1. a pink and brown color combo and 2. a Valentine’s theme. I had a lot of fun with this one and I’m really looking forward to seeing the other designs as well. Hey Cupcake
For this design, I started off with the above challenge and decided to work in this week’s CPS45 challenge as well. It has been a few weeks since I last participated and I’ve been totally missing out! 🙂 This design is very “scrappy” in style. I love mixing elements together…stamps, patterned paper, embellishments, stitching for a unique look. This design uses the Cosmo Cricket Little Girls patterned paper. This paper is 8×8 in size and great for card-making. The background, a design with strips of color and pattern is freestyle stitched to the Kraft card base. The pink paper is also from th pack and has a great distressed feel. I stamped some darling little hearts all over it with Burnt Umber Hybrid ink and zig zag stitched it to the design. The hearts, as well as the cupcake and sentiment are all stamps from Kim Hughes’ darling Hugs and Kisses stamp set by Cornish Heritage Farms. The panel behind the hearts is stamped with Pretty Pattern, also in the Burnt Umber ink.
To create the little cupcake, I stamped it onto Natural Smooth cardstock and then paper pieced it with some floral paper from the same package. A little clear Gelly Roll Glaze pen added to the heart makes it shine and I also added a little clear rhinestone to go with the girly look.
While trying to decide how to work in the sentiment…I thought it might be fun to include in on the horizontal band on the layout. Twill tape seemed to go really well with this style and so I stamped “Hey Cupcake” right on the twill as will as some hugs and kisses. 🙂 To finish it off…I sponged this Cosmo Cricket chipboard flower with some Burnt Umber ink and then attached a small Prima Hydrangea flower and a knotted scrap of May Arts Velvet ribbon.
Quick Tip: Stewart Superior Palette Hybrid ink is fabulous for stamping on twill and many other surfaces. I find it has very little bleeding on the fibres making it my choice for stamping on twill and other fibres.
